HOW do you keep gloves/mittens on toddlers' hands?
The 2 times we've been out in the snow, DD wants her gloves/mittens off. I've tried both gloves & mittens, she hates both. But then after being out for a few minutes, she'll say "hands cold" and get upset and we have to go inside.
How can I make her wear them? Any tricks?

I don't have any trick, but maybe it is the size? Maybe the inside is uncomfortable?
Sabrina wants them on but then they fall off

I've tried them all...mittens that come with the snowsuits that actually seem a little snug- hates them. Stretchy-gloves-- hates them.

No advice! DS HATES wearing a hat, a coat...so gloves are just worst. He had a fit in the City last week when I put the gloves on.
I told him I would call him Suri Cruise if he did not wear his coat.
His gloves are attached to his coat so at least I don't lose them.

Re: HOW do you keep gloves/mittens on toddlers' hands?
Grandma's solution below:
All of my friends told me the clips don't work, eventually they find a way to pull them off.
My MIL sewed both gloves onto a long crocheted string. It's a few more inches than the combined length of the kid's arms and their shoulders.
We snaked the string through the looped tag in their jackets and down each sleeve.
If they take their mittens off, they just hang a bit passed their arms but they can't drop them or lose them.
I'll try to take a pic later and post it.
ETA: woops, now I realized your post was about getting them to wear them, not lose them

I don't know where I saw it...I thought it was One Step Ahead, but it's not I just looked....but it was this underjacket thing...I *thnk* fleece and it had sleeves with mittens on it....so there was no losing it and it fit right under the jacket...it was some kind of insert with mittens.
I have no clue what mag I saw it in!

I used to have those for Nicholas when he was little. I wonder if the stores still sell them.

both my girls hate wearing them but once their hands start to get cold they let me put them on.
Sometimes they cry when I put them on but they get over it and leave them on.

Re: HOW do you keep gloves/mittens on toddlers' hands?
DD isnt really sure how to get them off yet.. but I put the mittens on first then her jacket.. so they get really wedged on so its difficult for her pull off.
When I was a kid i remember my mom having me wear the kind that attached to each other by a string and it went up the sleeve into the coat and out the other sleeve. Those seemed to stay on.

Re: HOW do you keep gloves/mittens on toddlers' hands?
Put mittens on FIRST - and THEN the jacket. If the sleeve has elastic around the wrist, she probably won't be able to get them off.
Worked like a charm for us today!
Oh and those mittens on a string - they don't make them any more because of the risk of strangulation. I got a crocheted pair as a gift and DH made me get rid of them.

amazon sells these.. they are Toddler waterproof Stay on mittens:
Defiantly look like ones that would be difficult for them to pull off.

Ahhh, I was looking for the string thing and couldn't find it. No wonder.
Yes DS does not leave his gloves on either, it doesn't matter what kind he has on, they come off. He pulls them off with his mouth, so I'm not sure about these stay on ones either.
