Re: How do you keep it all balanced?

Ask yourself what you're freaking out over. Stuff to really stess you out or just normal, everyday stuff? I have to take deep breaths and remember how lucky I am, and that what I'm fretting over is nothing to get upset about. When I need to get back on balance, I go to yoga and I vent to DH. Sometimes I cry...that usually makes it better. Then I have a glass of wine. You're pregnant and have a great DH; your life is going really well, so smile and avoid getting upset! My job is really stressful lately and I'm working super late...but still. I'm working, we're doing OK...just give yourself little treats (a new shirt, a great snack at lunch) and slow down!

All kidding aside, do what you can that day and don't stress it. Things will work out. I have learned to just deal, so what if all 4 loads of laundry don't get done. It's not like it wont be there tomorrow. I sit at the water alone also when Im feeling homicidal that always helps. Chat Icon

Re: How do you keep it all balanced?

I really don't try to stress so much, some things will happen that are out of my control, you know?

overall, I just try to live my life to the best of my abilities, realizing that not always things will be the way i planned them to.

I keep lists - I work on them on the train sometimes. I tend to be an "I'll take care of it" type person and I am finally getting better at asking for help.

I ask DH to do more.
I will call in a cleaning service, order groceries or drop off laundry to save some time.
I will break bigger tasks down into smaller more manageable parts.
Make the decision to do nothing - then I don't feel like I am slacking at something.

Re: How do you keep it all balanced?

I dont sweat the small stuff and dont let them get big either. I have a non carious attitude and I have to say my life has never been better and I am more focused and organized and seem to accomplish a heck of a lot more than when I used to worry about everything.

forgot to add- everything always seems to work itself out so why stress

I realized a long time ago that not everything is a 10 on life's scale of priorities so I just try and remember that if it doesn't get done today there is always tomorrow and oh yeah I was crazy to begin with so...

that is an excellent way of putting it!

it's all about setting priorities.

I totally agree. I've come to learn not to sweat everything b/c in the end most of the time it's not worth it.

Re: How do you keep it all balanced?

planning and flexibility.

i try to plan whatever i can ahead of time, but accept that it wont always work out like i planned. sh*t happens and life goes on.

prioritize! i think many people have a hard time deciding and realizing what's *really* important and what's Not.

and when all else fails, i give myself the 'tough love' talk- Many people do MUCH more than i do with far worse circumstances. Get over it!

i'll admit though- having an awesome DH does make life much easier- he does more than his fair share fo teamwork. Chat Icon

I keep notes, write reminders, remind myself that I can only do so much and if something is NOT necessary and it can wait (like throwing a load of towels in the wash at 9pm) I will remind myself that it doesn't need to be done immediately.

Re: How do you keep it all balanced?

I don't try to be superwoman. I prioritize what is important for me, DH and our baby.

If that mean I won't clean the bathroom, cook a nice diner or do laundry on a scheduled day... well, so be it. There is take out, I can always find something to wear, etc.

I have learned years ago to just let go.

Re: How do you keep it all balanced?

I don't get stressed. Seriously - for some reason I lack the capacity to let things really get to me. If somethign doesn't get done on a particular day, I don't lose sleep over it - it'll get done eventually.
And I like to keep organized.

Totally agree on all counts (even the crazy part Chat Icon)

But in all seriousness I make a list and try to prioritize as best as I can. I'm not sure what your stressing about because your OP was a little vague.

But I also send myself emails as well as carry a planner with pencil so I can try to keep track of everything.

I think part of the key is to maintain orginization.
