I kiss DD everywhere! I'm sure the lips will become off limits when she gets older though. Only mommy kisses her lips though....
Daddy's allowed, but he doesn't. LOL.

On the lips now that she's a toddler, not when she was an infant. She gives us both a big kiss before bed everynight. It's one of my favorite times.

no lips, I agree with OP lips are reserved for dh... and I wont be letting family kiss him on lips either cause its weird and I dont want them getting him sick

not for nothing, but that's fine that you don't kiss your DS on the lips, but for please reserve judgement. I don't think it's weird that I kiss my daughter on the lips and she has never gotten sick from anyone in my family kissing her on the lips. What you do for your child is fine, but so is what I do for MY child and I don't appreciate it being deemed weird.

but really everywhere. she kisses everyone in my family on the lips too, it's cute and she has never gotten a virus from doing it.
The the OP, my old boss is a non lip kisser. We would tease eachother all the time. She just had her 1st DC 6 months ago and while I swore she'd become a lip kisser, she still refrained. No lips for her!
I can't get enough of my children's lips.

me too, everywhere, I could eat him up! But I rarely kiss his lips, I think it's weird but I do it sometimes when I can't help it LOL
oh def. no family kissing on the lips, I would be really annoyed if someone did that!

I never thought I would kiss my child on the lips. To me, it wasn't done in our family. However, my son has seen me kiss my husband on the lips and he has started kissing ME on the lips! It was so sweet and so heartfelt that there was no way I was going to try to change the behavior. He is 13 months now, he started this when he was 11 months. To me, it is such a sweet and innocent expression of love that it makes me melt.
same here and he still does it to both DH and I at 21 mos

I kiss DD EVERYWHERE, DH isn't a fan of kissing on the lips bc he thinks they'll end up kissing everyone on the lips as they get older...to each their own, his mother, my MIL also has to have her say and say no lips, she can shove it..

Well, with my DS no one has a choice. He'll run up to his loved ones, grab both sides of their head, wet his lips and WHAM-O... plant one right on your lips!
DD is more reserved. She'll kiss me and DH on the lips but she often gives her papa her forehead

me and dh kiss my dd on the lips..and i kissed ds on the lips until he was about 6 or so..i dont however want my inlaws, OR my own mother kissing my kids on their lips..i feel like its only between us...my mother wouldnt even dream of it..and im sure my Mil wouldnt wanna try and go there with me lol

not a mommy yet, but i feel very strongly about lip kisses.
HSV 1 (cold sores - a form of herpes) is transmitted through contact - even if the person doesn't currently have an active sore. I've suffered from cold sores since I was a little kid, and this is how I got the virus.
No one will be kissing my child on the lips - not mommy, daddy, or anyone else.
I respect how u feel however i do have to point out that the HSV 1 virus can be transfered ANYWHERE not just the lips. Herpes Whitlow is a herpetic lesion that occurs on fingers/toes/cuticles and it is just as painful - and u transfer it by kissing toes fingers hands... In my opinion, if ur terrified of ur baby contracting the HSV on the lips u should be just as concerned about ur baby contracting the virus on his/her whole body as well. U can also get a herpetic lesion in ur eye as well whis is very dangerous.
The HSV 1 virus is most contagious when it is active however u are correct that it can pass when it is not active - although it is very rare. About 80% of people have the HSV 1 virus (even though they dont get an outbreak from it) and even if u kiss a baby where there is some type of broken skin (even if u cant see it) the baby can develop a bacterial infection (ie herpes whitlow)
You can even pass the virus by drinking from the same cup, sharing utensils etc. So while u can infect ur baby with the virus by kissing ur baby on the lips, chances are ur child will eventually get the virus and may never exhibit any signs of it.
Bc the virus is most contagious during its active stage, i would (and i think most people) would refrain from kissing a baby during an outbreak.
I do have to add when my baby is born i am going to kiss his toes fingers chubby legs face lips head everywhere!!!!

everywhere! i always thought it was odd/gross when i saw parents kiss their kids on the lips UNTIL i had my ds! i kiss their cute little tushies too.
oh, my mil tries to kiss dh on he lips and that makes me  . he throws the cheek out to her thank G-d!
