How Do You Know (food related - oatmeal)
how do you know if your dc doesn't LIKE the taste of something?? how many times do you try before you give up?
i tried oatmeal yesterday with Emmy but she wasn't 100% hungry - so i understood why she didn't want much.
i tried again today and she ate almost the whole bowl - but was NOT happy about it....she 'seemed' to not like it - but she was VERY tired..so it just could've been that.
how many more times do i try before i stop??? how will i know for SURE if she doesn't like it?

Re: How Do You Know (food related - oatmeal)
DS HATES juice, and I knew immediately, and tried several times, but he won't swallow it AT ALL--sticks his tongue out every time.
When we first tried yogurt, he didn't love it, but I think it was that it was cold (and a different texture). I tried once more and he LOVES it now.
I'd try a couple times during good times for her (not too tired, etc) and see if she eats it...If not, she hates it.
I don't have much advice b/c DS eats EVERYTHING. I can tell when he loves something--he LOVES pirate's booty (the cheese curls), and will punch/army crawl his way to the bag!

I think the rule of thumb is 7-10 tries before they will really decide if they like it or now.

I'd have to say give it atleast a week. What we found with the cereal was that if it was too watery or too thick my DD didn't like it, but if we make it just a little thick, she loves it and will gobble it up all day long if you let her.

Re: How Do You Know (food related - oatmeal)
I was told and read it can take 10-15 times of trying something to really know. DD#1 didn't like a lot of veggies the 1st few times but I kept trying and now she LOVES them. DD#2 doesn't always eat everything the 1st time but I keep trying and so far it pays off. I don't give a lot when I'm not sure only a few mouthfuls. Just keep offering the foods.

Re: How Do You Know (food related - oatmeal)
DD LOVED food. The only thing she didn't like was the Stage 2 Chicken and Apples...We tried it maybe 3-4 times and she gagged every single time. We figured it was something she didn't like since she ate everything else fine.
Actually she wasn't fond of bananas in the beginning either. She would eat one spoonful and then clamp her mouth shut when we tried to feed her subsequent spoonfuls. We just kept trying and eventually she took to them and now she LOVES bananas.
