How do you stop DC from hitting?
He only hits me and his father, but he hits! Sometimes hard! I asked my daycare provider if he does it there and she said no. I've tried time out but he won't stay in the chair. What else can I do?

Re: How do you stop DC from hitting?
I LITERALLY just got DS out of his time out chair for doing this. It's very upsetting and wish I had a better solution but so far this is the only thing that works for us. After 2 warnings or so I don't say a word. Just pick him up and put him in time out (a chair in the kitchen-he faces the wall). I walk away. If he gets up, I don't say a word, just pick him up and put him back. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. By then he usually gives up, says sorry, cries and hugs me. Then he's back to his usual adorable self lol. Makes me nuts AND sad. I know it's a phase, but it's a hard one. I feel your pain. Good luck!

Re: How do you stop DC from hitting?
we grab her hands and say NO HANDS....or no hit.
what's worse for us is the head....she headbuts accidentally 99% of the time - but 1% of the time it's on purpose and my God this kid has a HARD head!

Re: How do you stop DC from hitting?
We take her hand and say no hitting, make nice to mommy/daddy and then she makes nice to us....I think sometimes it is testing...but I think the important key is consistency....if you just let it go and ignore it then they won't learn that hitting is wrong....so I think you are doing a great job! I know it is frustrating and also makes you worried/wonder if they are hitting others (DD is also in daycare 3 days per wk)
