How do you time contractions??

I had preterm contractions at 34 weeks that we're coming 4-5 mins apart and although I knew something was off, I certainly did not realize they were coming at regular intervals like that!

Now that I know what contractions feel like (at 37+ weeks), I've been feeling them sporadically. People keep telling me to time them but I'm at work and as I'm going about my business I can't quite stay on top of when they start, how long they last etc.

Any tips on how to understand my contractions better? For the record, at this point they feel like twisty cramping, not painful, just a bit uncomfortable at times. I have a sono and internal tomorrow.

hmm if you are able to continue going about your business, i may not worry about timing them yet - unless you are feeling them once every 10 minutes or less.
i had an app that i used when they started coming regularly. you would click when they start and when they stop and it would tell you how far apart they are

eta - the app i used was called "full term"

Re: How do you time contractions??

good suggestion on using an app, i hadn't even thought of that!

sure enough, those contractions from earlier have subsided (since they weren't painful i was never too concerned). i just want to make sure i have an idea of what to look for in terms of timing, as well as pain level for when the real thing kicks in!
