How does radiant heat work?
Is it electrical or does it work with your existing heating system?
TIA

it works with your heating system
there are pipes under the floor instead of baseboard- hot water flows thru the pipes and heats the floor

Re: How does radiant heat work?
Modern radiant heat may use either hydronic or electric coils and can be installed outdoors as well as inside the house. Most radiant heat is installed during construction but it can be part of a remodeling retrofit. It is installed by laying coils on a completely smooth prepared subsurface covered with a thin layer of cement-based composite material or by threading the coils through floor joists. Either type installation must be tested at various stages and properly insulated underneath so that all of the heat rises through the floor on top of it. Kits are available for the do-it-yourselfer or professional.

Re: How does radiant heat work?
Thank you!
We are doing an extension this year and I may want to consider that option to my baseboard (and we have those whole wall length ones... that I hate!!!)

Re: How does radiant heat work?
If you are going to do it I suggest Hydronic one. Electric will jack your bill up a tone.
We have hydronic and I love it. Our house stays very warm.
