radiant heat and tile Qs

For those who have radiant heat.

Can you install on a slab?

Do you still need "regular" heat in the room? Is radiant heat enough to heat a room?

Is it connected to a power source?

TIA

Re: radiant heat and tile Qs

My parents have radiant heat in a slab, under tile. It is nice and toasty on the feet, but will not heat a room.

You need heat in the room along with the radiant heat in the tile.Chat Icon

Re: radiant heat and tile Qs

The heat under the tile is great in the winter on x-mas day (if you celebrate) you can sit on the tile floor and be warm (although the tree needs more water then).

It is also great for drying wet clothing, like snow boots and mittens as well as sweaters.

I have radiant throughout the bottom floor of my house. I have ceramic tile in my diningroom and it's great. The tiles get toasty warm and the room is warm.

I have pergo floors in some of the other rooms and that warms up nicely as well.

yes you can install on a slab

its not considered to heat the whole room, except bathrooms, it more of a luxury to have warm tiles.
