How does this continue?

My co-worker comes in late every day and is on the phone with her boyfriend all day long.

I don't know how this continues. I'm baffled.

She stops every now and again to do a little work.

I guess she is doing the bare minimum to get by.

It has to be noticed.

I worked with same type of person..

she even ran a Lia Sophis biz from her

desk using company equipment. Supers

turned the otherway, I think they did

not want to deal with a backlash or

possible HR issue. Its so wrong and it

makes other employess feel anger and

resentment, something thats a big NO

NO in the office.

I was tempted to right an anonymous

letter to Director of HR but my office

closed.

she isn't banging anyone and she is not related.

Moreso the person she worked for has an ego issue. He hired her with no input and refuses to see that she is subpar.

I'm starting to staff up with more talented people and soon he will have no choice but to do something. These others will run circles around her.

But for now, she does the bare minimum and like I said comes in late every day.

She is supposedly moving to NJ (2 hours away) soon and then she will come in even later.

I still think it's a matter of time before she's gone either way.

I think she has quite a pair. My other co-worker and I document everything on her.

We must work in the same office

The person in my dept. has even blatantly abused FMLA policy to take vacations and get plastic surgery (cosmetic). But she knows how to work the system. It has FINALLY caught the attention of our main boss and now that she's on it, it's only a matter of time.

I know it is SO hard to deal w/coworkers like that and I struggle w/it on a daily basis because it creates more work for me, so I have no words of advice just

when she comes in late she comes in a way that doesn't pass her boss' office. She did that yesterday.

Then she talks on the phone with the boyfriend she just left. Then she goes for breakfast.

She doesn't even start to work until she's here an hour and then she works only when it doesn't interfere with her conversations with her boyfriend, the credit counselor, the mortgage guy and her friends about the whole thing.

Dh and I were having a siimilar discussion last night about a few co-workers of his that are taking advantage. It's mind boggling to me that these types of people do not get it! There are SO many people who are in NEED of a job.

What kind of work is she pushing onto others? Is it stuff like answering phones that everyone shares responsibility for anyways?

Because if not, I totally agree with Karen that you all need to ban together and not bail her out anymore.

That's when notice will be taken. I went through something similar when I used to be a supervisor and would end up doing bits and pieces of others work because I didn't want our program to look bad........well, when the higher ups realized what was going on, they took notice and kept a strong paper trail to get rid of several people.

just so happened that we had to cover for her while she was out sick yesterday. Two of the people she works for had to come to us for help. They both commented to us that it was a pleasure dealing with us and how efficient we were.

Her main manager asked me to schedule some meetings and it was done in less than 10 minutes.

It would have taken her two days.

Well of course it would, she would have to do it in between her hour long personal phone calls.

There's a girl like that in my office. I have to believe she spends 4-5 hours max doing actual work. And on top of that, she got permission to leave at 5:15 every day (our office closes at 5:30) but she actually walks out the door at 5-5:05. I was wondering for the longest time who she could've been sleeping with but the boss is gay and the head honchos are in the UK. It must be luck!

I worked with a few people like this. One sat on personal phone calls all day long and would speak so loud the whole office would hear. I was in my own separate office and heard her loud and clear. Nothing was ever said to her. She got away with murder and continues to. Luckily I left and never have to hear her loud mouth again!
Sounds like its only a matter of time before your co worker gets the boot.
Maybe she is trying to get fired? I had a friend who did this because she was going back to school and was leaving anyway so she figured if she got fired she could get unemployment. I told her it was the dumbest thing she ever did. She didn't get fired and left but really burned her bridges.

OMG-today her boss told me to include her more when I need help and she's so busy and he wants her to be happy and productive. She's not busy. Not even close!

I guess I will have to interrupt her personal calls now.

I'm steaming mad.

He doesn't see it. I sit right outside of his office and he didn't know I was working from home today.
