How does your child interact with other children?

How does your baby act with other children.

Megan is 10 months old and isnt around other children much. When she sees or interacts with another child though, she gets so excited she wants to touch their face or pull their hair. Shes not doing it out of anger or a "bad place."

Yesterday at the mall, a little boy came over to her and Megan was laughing at him. They loved each other. But when he got too close, she reached up and pulled his hair. She also tends to get excited and flail her arms in their faces. I take her hand and tell her "nice nice" but she gets so excited and just keeps reaching for them.

Do your babies do this? How do you handle it? I know shes a baby but it was embarassing..I feel like she was going to hurt him, when I full well know she was just excited. I just dont want other parents thinking I have a little meanie for a daughter. Advice?

Re: How does your child interact with other children?

She is only 10 months old so I don't think she is doing it to be a meanie. Like you said she gets excited and that's why they do that sometimes. DS does it to us. Like when we are playing with him and make him laugh he'll hit us in the face but we know he's doing it for play because he sees we were just playing around with him and it's like he wants to do it too. So that's why they move their hands around, cuz they are too excited.

I wouldn't worry about it. Right now they are too young to understand that what they are doing is wrong but it's not a bad idea to keep saying nice. When DS hits cuz he's excited I just say "no do nice" but I don't yell at him because like I said he doesn't know it's wrong when he starts getting older then we'll have to raise our voices but for now they are just hitting cuz they are playing...
