How far ahead did you start prenatals?
Just wondering how long before TTC did you start prenatals? We wanted to start in Jan, so my gyn gave me prenatals in Oct but said I should have been taking them before that.

Honestly for almost a year now. I just started TTC, but I went off the pill and wanted to start getting vitamins into my body and figured it can't hurt.
I just always did an over the counter one and at my last gyno appt we started talking about TTC and I told him I was taking one already, CVS brand, yada, yada and he just said "Good news"

I've been taking a multi and fish oil for a couple of years.
I added extra Folic acid to the mix around April. I went off the pill in May (knowing we weren't trying right away) and switched to a prental soon after.

I feel like I am so behind!! I haven't even started to take them yet - I had other medical issues come up and I couldn't stomach them with the other meds.
I hope it is not horrible that I start to take them once we start TTC next month!

I think the most important thing is the folic acid. Can you buy a separate folic acid supplement and start taking that now?

We only started TTC in early October and I started taking the vitamins only a couple of weeks before that.

Over a year. We werent sure when we were gonna start TTC but i figured it couldnt hurt to be on them a long time so i started last year.

Folic acid prevents Spina Bifida (sp) in the baby
Thanks ladies for your imput - I actually started to take it again last night!! Since I am missing out on this cycle to TTC - I know I will have a month of taking the vitamins before we TTC again!!

It helps prevent birth defects of the brain and spine.
