I didn't stop working until my Doctor told me to. If your Doctor pulls you out of work, that's when your disability starts. Well, that's how it was 12 years ago. lol and then I got the 6 weeks after she was born.

My DD was due on 3/31 and my last day was 3/13. She was born on 3/21. It all worked out. I had a total of 7 weeks off of work.

I think I will stop 2 weeks before. I will save my vacation time for 2 weeks before and take it then.

Since I'm self employed I am going to work till the day I go into labor when ever that will be. I plan on taking off 14 weeks. I wish I could take much more.

With the NYC Dept of ED, whatever days we use come out of our sick bank so I didnt want to stop any earlier than I needed to; didnt want to use up days and need them later

I was due with DS Jan 6, worked until Dec 23 and was induced on the 24th

with #2, I am due the first day of school LOL
I will stop working august 6th; last day for admins to be in summer school

I'm going to work till the end but my boss is very flexible and I'd imagine if I am really not feeling up to it she will let me take time off beforehand as well.

I am planning on working until the very end. I work in the hospital I am delivering at. My full plan is to have an extra pair of scrubs in my locker and have my water break there (to not loose time) so I can use my time (6 weeks and 6 months short term disability insurance) so 7 months 2 weeks home hopefully

im going to keep it at 2 weeks before, until i go to the maternity workshop. As a teacher I think i need to give them a def date that will be my last day, so i hate to make it closer to my date and really not feel up to it. Im over 50 min away from home

I live very close to where I work so I pushed it till the ver;y end (stopped Friday, DD came on her due date on Wednesday). I had planned on working till she was born but my heartburn was unbearable. I am a teacher also and didn't want to waste my sick days beforehand. In my district however my maternity leave didn't officially begin until I gave birth, therefore those two days I took before she arrived were only sick days and didn't reduce my time off. Had I known this prior, I might have stopped a few days sooner. I didn't have to give them a definite date of when I'd be stopping though.

With my first I went out 3 weeks before due to the commute, I had really bad sciatica and could not sit in a car for the 2 hours. With my second I didn't take anytime before, he was due in July...I am a teacher too. I took time after...went back in November.

With this one, I am due July 4th but will have a repeat c-section so I am probably having at the end of June. I am going to take a couple of days before the c-section just to spend with my other two before their lives get turned upside down!!

With my first one, I literarlly worked up to the end. But not intentionally. I left work on Friday at 5pm, and had her sunday am. She was a bit early.

This one, I really don't know what my plan is yet. So far, I feel ok at 26 weeks.

Because of my history of preterm birth, my ob MAY pull me out of work early, but if not I will work as close to my c/s date as possible.

I'm only p/t where I work, so I don't get any benefits.

I'll go out when my Dr. tells me to go out. He seems to think I need to stop commuting 4 weeks before my due date regardless because my commute is 2 hours each way and at that point with my HBP issues it may be too stressful.

I'm going to try to hang in there as long as I can.

I had planned on working right up until I gave birth but it turned out that I couldn't keep up with the kindergarteners once I hit my last month! So...tomorrow is my first day of my leave (January 4) and I'm due on January 14th.

I'm due May 29th and looking to make around May 14th my last day. If I have to stop working earlier, I will of course. I teach and REFUSE to have my water break in front of my HS students lol I'd be mortified!

i think alot has to do with your circustances...i stopped with ds at 34 weeks... i was working nights alone in the basement of a hospital and was so big that i couldnt even reach the sinks to wash my hands... and because i was alone i was running around alot.. then when i asked what would happen if i went into labor and they told me i would have to wait until the next shift came in (this was after i had a problem and not one person answered the calls i was making so i had to ask)..... this time around i stopped at 32 weeks.... more because it killed my back..


my gf is a teacher and stopped with 4 weeks left because the commute was killing her... so it really depends

I'm having a scheduled C/S, and had the same with my son. With him, I worked until 2 days before my c/s. I did pre-surg testing the first day and we spent the last day with my daughter. I was going to do the same this time around, but I think I might stop a week before my c/s because it looks like my daughter will be on winter break from pre-k and I would like to spend some time with her and DS before the baby comes.

1st time around I worked until 2 days before my due date. I would have continued working until I delivered but my BP skyrocketed and I was going in for monitoring every day.

This time around I'm hoping for a c-section on a Friday and then I will either work until the Wed before or work a half day Thurs so I can go for pre-op testing.

I'm pregnant with twins and will have a repeat c section, hopefully sometime between June 2nd and June 10th (37-38 weeks). I think the last day of classes for our spring semester is May 15th. Hopefully I'll get through the end of classes, finals week, and then commencement. . . but you never know. I'm already planning on having someone proctor my finals, and commencement will most likely be a no go.

I get to leave 4 weeks before my due date, per company policy (Feb 8th can't come soon enough!!!!)

But if I had to make the choice I would wait and see how I felt. I know for me, my commute will be very hard the closer I get to my due date. I commute to the city from LI and have alot of stairs to climb. 2 weeks sounds good, but maybe wait and see how you feel?
