How hard is it to put up molding in middle of the wall?

I love the look of a two color room split by molding, but my husband is afraid he won't be able to put up the molding straight or cut it correctly. Has anyone done this? How easy/hard is it...is it worth the work? I included a pic below just to clarify what I'm talking about. Thanks!

Also, if anyone has pics of this done in their nursery please post so I can get some ideas as to where to place molding and the exact look of it. Chat Icon

Putting it up is not hard at all, if you have the right gun and nails.

DH used a chalk line as a level. Simple and cheap.

It is cutting the molding that can be a &itch, if you don't know what you are doing.

you would need a level, nail set, tape measure, nails, hammer, and a miter saw.

To make it much easier, a level, chalk line, chop saw, air compressor, nail gun, tape measure.

It is really not that difficult, but it depends on your level of carpentry skills.

Crown molding is a BIT*#$&@ to cut, with much room for error. Floor, wall, window, or door is much easier.

Good luck

Painters caulk works miracles!!

Dont worry if its off a bit in the corners, its the finishing that does the trick. Once you fill in the gaps with painters caulk and paint over everything, it looks great.

Trust me, we went through bottles of it when installing all the moldings in our nursery.

I agree with the other ladies. I've put it up before and it wasn't too bad, but my father has great carpentry skills. The biggest issue is getting the correct angles for the cuts to make the joints. Hanging is the easy part. A laser level is really helpful as well.
