Mine is no longer offering insurance as of 1/1/14.
Likely- this will be the same for me!

I'm just curious, if they no longer offer health insurance, will they provide a stipend or increase your salary due to the elimination of the benefit? If not, that's wrong.

Not sure. My health insurance has steadily gone up 20% every year in the past 3 years and DH insurance was just changed so that it would have cost us over $15-17k a year. Im kind of scared to see what will come this year. I haven't gotten a raise in years and if this keeps up, I will literally be working just to pay our insurance.
get on the exchange as soon as it's working - I am sure you could do much better!
Can I even if my employer offers insurance? I definitely plan on researching more before I have to enroll for 2014 because somethings gotta give!
yes- even if your employer offers insurance!
this is NOT true. If you're employer offers "affordable" insurance you cannot "shop" in the exchange. Employers are no longer allowed to offer plans that cost more than 9.5% of your income. If they do and you can prove it then you can shop in the exchange.

the plans didn't change, but the cost did. We now need to do 2 annuals (one in Nov and the second in May). If your BMI, cholesterol, etc improve between Nov and May, you receive a discount. anyone that doens't improve, the plan is at a higher rate.

How has the Affordable HC Act impacted your company's insurance offerings?
DH got a letter stating his current plan won't exist as of 1/1/14. So he's just waiting to hear from HR about what the option is for coverage.
I'm a permanent substitute who wasn't offered benefits anyway, but because they don't want to be required to give us benefits, we are being cut to 4 days a week instead of 5.

You can get coverage on the exchange, you just might not be eligible for a subsidy if your employer offer minimum essential coverage that is of minimum value and is considered affordable.

Re: How has the Affordable HC Act impacted your company's insurance offerings?
My husband owns his own small business (4 equal partners in total).
They have...ABOUT....30 employees.
They will not raise rates and will keep everything the same.
They offer 3 tiers of policys.
1. The beasic "I neever get sick and would almost never go to the doctor" policy which is VERY cheep.
2. The normal middle tier policy
3. The high tear. You pay more and get more.
Most employees go with the middle policy.
They have been offering FREE basic policys to everyone. You work there you get free medical. If you dont take the medical they PAY you for not taking medical.
They will not change their policy because of ACA. As a small business they have decided to do right by the people who work for them and put on our tables.

How has the Affordable HC Act impacted your company's insurance offerings?
My company used to pay for my whole family now we have to pay a portion. They are offering 3 different plans. If I want to go with what I have currently I will have to pay $650 a month. Now this may not seem like a lot but my company constantly uses this as a bargaining tool so it is very frustrating.

I applaud your husband, he is definitely doing right by his employees. If there were more employers like him, there would be no need for the ACA. Unfortunately, many employers care more about how the cost cuts into their profits than the basic welfare of their staff. Bravo to him!!!

It will probably go up like it has every year for the past 12345 years. I know our deductible is going to go up to which blows but what can you do?
