How is your district ending off the school year?

As the school year rapidly approaches an end I feel like these kids need closure. A chance to say goodbye to their school and their teachers. I have heard many districts are doing car parades through the school. Is yours? If yes, what grades are your kids? If no, are they doing anything else special? As of now I have heard of nothing for my kids schools (elementary and middle) and we were just told school ends next week.

My little guy's nursery school is doing a drive by graduation. I have not heard about my older two yet. They are in pre-k and elementary school.

I heard from a friend tonight that Miller Place is holding graduation. They are limiting guests and separating the students on the field to sit with their families. I think that's nice they are doing something for them. I hope other districts follow suit. These kids need something.

Our teachers union just did a reverse parade for grades K-12 and handed out Free ice cream coupons at the end.

My kids are having a class party on the 2nd to last day (via Google Meet). They are having a car parade only for the 4th graders on the last day of school since they are moving on to middle school. They are also putting together a video for their promotion ceremony.

My dd in pre-K is having a drive in graduation.

My 1st grader is having a car parade in the last day of school to cap off a week of fun virtual events.

I work in a junior high, and we were the first building in the district to do a parade, which consisted of 3 separate days, because we are a big district. That was back in April. All the teachers made a slide and will be presented and emailed to the students saying goodbye and wishing them luck. OUr band teachers also made a great slide show (because there was no spring concert) of all the kids playing one of the songs. They had to record themselves and send it to the teacher, and a high school student put it all together . It was the chorus singing the song, with the band in the background, with pics of all the students. It was put together really well.

How is your district ending off the school year?

My son is graduating 5th grade and they're having us drive through the school parking lots in a parade. We'll go through a balloon arch, then they'll give my son stuff (graduation t-shirt, certificate, etc) and an option to take a photo with his teacher...... all while we're in the car.

Drive throughs. Virtual assemblies. What a beautiful job they did. Love these profesional, devoted teachers and administrators, and feel blessed to have them in my kids' lives.

Sending cards today to all of them to express our gratitude for the constancy and nurturing at what could have been such a scary time for them.

My daughter is in kindergarten. Her teachers are going to do a socially distanced visit and will drop off her belongings and her kindergarten diploma. Our district will end school a week early on 6/19.

Our Pre-K is doing a drive up moving up. Our 6th Graders are as well but theirs is a little bit more elaborate, We have a photo section set up for them with a photographer. The rest of the grades is just what the classroom teacher sets up.

absolutely nothing. ended it a week early now (i think the 17th) with a virtual wave goodbye!
