How late into the fall can you plant grass seed?

We are redoing the front of our house and we now have an awesome mudslide lol

The work on the front won't be done for prob 2 weeks

Is it too late into the fall to put seeds down and start growing? Hubby thinks it is.... I'm hoping it isn't. I can't look at mud all throughout the winter.

I just was going to ask, when does grass seed need to go down in the coming weeks? And will grass actually grow?

And what kind of seed should we use?

I used lawn doctor and they did power seeding in late september and the grass is coming in pretty nicely...I think once the weather got cooler you can plant but I would def ask a professional to see if its too late
