How long after giving birth did you lift your older child (or lift heavy objects)?
I believe we are not supposed to lift heavy objects including older children for 4 weeks. there is no way I can not pick up my 2yo DS. I try not to lift him frequently.
How long after giving birth did you lift heavy objects or your older child?

I had a vaginal and my doctor gave me no restricitions on lifting at all

I agree.
My first birth was vaginal and i had no restrictions at all.
My second birth was a c-section and I had a two week restriction.

I had restrictions bc i had a C-section but when you have other DC you cannot realistically comply with that. Just try to be careful when you do and not to often.

No, I had a vaginal delivery. When I left the hospital, I was told not to do strenuous exercise and not lift heavy objects. I asked about lifting my 2yo DS and was told I should try not to lift him. It was the dismissing nurse?

I remember being told the same thing by our discharge nurse and I laughed. How would I be home with an infant and a 2yo and NOT lift the older one?
I think I made it less than a day, but had no problems as a result.

I had a section & I didn't lift my oldest son (10.5 months at the time) fully until a week after I delivered. I would pick him up if he was standing on a couch or what not but never a dead lift.

No one said anything to me about not lifting my DS. In fact, I never stopped - except for when I was in the hospital. The first thing I did when I got home was pick him up  Honestly though, strangely, after delivering #2 I pretty much felt normal by the time I got home.

I had a repeat c and my dr said no lifting until 6 weeks. I lived on the floor pretty much when I got home with #2 and we'd have DS climb up to me if I was on the couch etc. We also bought him a step stool so that would help me getting him into bed etc. I would def take it easy first couple of wks.

This was my third vaginal delivery, and I was not given restrictions on lifting....did everything go as expected? are you bleeding alot? maybe that is why they suggested this?

Assuming you didn't have any complications, that's odd that you were given a 4 week restriction with a vaginal delivery. I had a c-section and was told to not drive or lift anything heavy for 2 weeks.
