How long did your baby sleep in bassinet?

Baby is due in a few wks and DH asked me this question the other night and i had no answer for him.

I know there is no right/wrong answer, im just curious as to how long your DC stayed in his/hers (providing you had a bassinet ofcourse)

Like 2 weeks and that was only because I was staying at my parents. When we went back home Dylan went straight to the crib.

8 weeks I think. We transitioned him to the crib bc he kept hitting the sides of the bassinet and waking himself up when he was sleeping.

#1=3 mos.
#2=4 mos. I was so DONE with the sleeping in the room thing, but we went away for 9 days when she was around 3.5 mos and I didn't want to upset things by making her sleep in our room, then in her own crib, then back with us on vacation, then in her own crib, KWIM?

And I BF both overnight during that time...

He stayed in it until I went back to work at 5 weeks.. We wanted to transition to crib before I went back to work in case we had problems...

Almost 5 months but this was because we were in a 1 br apt and didnt move into our 3br apt until DS was 4 months old. Then we still had to order his furniture once we moved. If we were already in a bigger apt he probably would have been out of the bassinet by 3 months old.

i am pretty sure she was sleeping in there till 4.5 months

At around 3 months. In the beginning it was easier b/c he was getting up every 3 hours to feed. Once he started going on longer stretches we put him in the crib. Now he sleeps so great in the crib.

I still use the bassinet in the mornings when I'm getting ready. The electronic music, lights and turning bears last longer so while I'm getting ready he plays with a toy and stairs at the bears. The crib I'd have to keep winding it.

2.5 months after stretching it. He completely outgrew it.

DS was in it for 2 nights. He hated it and refused to sleep in it.

I think the answer will vary greatly on the baby, their size, the parent's preference and the baby's preference.

For DD#1 we had a larger size bassinet - (no longer being sold) - and it went to 18 lbs. DD was in it until 5.5 months (she was 17 lbs when we moved her) we kept her in it for so long b.c she was sleeping well and it worked for us.

DD#2 we had a mini co-sleeper - we got it b.c DD#1 was a big baby and we didn't want to transition DD#2 to her crib b.c the girls were sharing rooms for a little while (we have a 4 bedroom home but didn't feel comfortable with our baby or 2 year old on a separate floor from us) - so we went with the co sleeper over the bassinets which only had weight limits of 15 lbs (DD turned out to gain weight much slower than DD#1 she is only 13lbs 11 oz at 3.5 months - DD#1 was over 15 lbs at that time). But we had to move DD to a port a crib b/c she is moving so much I didn't feel that the cosleeper was safe (we are in contract on a home where the girls will have their own rooms so I'm waiting to transition DD#2 once we are in the new home.)

We just took her out of it last week - DD is 6 months today.

I would have done it a lot sooner, but DH really wanted to keep her in our bedroom.

7 weeks...

DS and mommy were ready to m ove to the crib sooner but Daddy wasnt.

We finally moved him when DH got sick and I didnt want the baby near him. DS was much more comfortable in the crib!

3 months and that was pushing it. She as over the weight limit for the PNP bassinet.

Sometime between the day she hit 4 months and the day she hit 5 months, we transistioned DD to the crib.

DD is still in bassinett 3.5months pretty soon she will be in her crib.

7 weeks, then DD had reflux and we needed to elevate her mattress so into the crib she went. Best thing I did actually.

2 and half months, then a month and a half in a car seat then right to crib.
