How long did your DC get used to eating off a spoon?
My doctor said that at Paige's next visit she will start cereal. Well, of course, I've tried a little to see how she would act with it. I know she is young still, but she did not like it at all. She made a face and was not having it.
Maybe in a few weeks or so she might be willing to want it more since she will be almost 4 months. Just wondering how long it takes for them to adjust to it.

She will probably resist and possibly cry the first few times. I put the spoon in sideways at first, just found that to be easier to keep it in her mouth. After a while she became a pro but it def took about a week so don't give up.

We started at 6 months old, DD had no problems opening and taking the spoon
We used to touch the spoon to her bottom lip.

It took Hannah 2 or 3 days to figure out what to do with the cereal, but she liked it.

We did the same, except we started at 5.5 months. The spoon thing with the bottom lip works.

It took Luca about 2-3 days to get used to the whole spoon thing. But now he eats like a champ. I also found he prefers the cereal on the thicker side, even though they suggest you make it pretty watery at first. It's a trial and error sort of thing., You have to figure out what works for your own child.

Re: How long did your DC get used to eating off a spoon?
We started DD on cereal on Saturday, at 6 months, and maybe because she was older but she knew how to eat from the spoon right away- so I think it's age. I'm sure she'll get it soon.

Re: How long did your DC get used to eating off a spoon?
My dd started at 4 months with the cereal. All I can say is that she LOVES to eat. By the second day she had it completely down pat. I found that it helped if she could see the spoon coming towards her, she would open her mouth.
The other thing that I found is that consistency definitely makes a difference! She likes it thick - I add one oz of formula to 4 tbsp of barley or oatmeal and 2 oz to 4 tbsp of rice.
