How long does it take to close on a house?
We are newbies and just starting this whole buying/selling process. I know it varies but once your offer was received how long did it take you to close and actually move into the house? TIA!

How long does it take to close on a house?
6 weeks from offer to close. We chose to move in a couple weeks later, but we could have moved in that day.

Our contract was for on or around 60 days later. It was accurate, about 8 weeks.

The general time frame is 2-3 months. It can depend on the bank/mortgage company and the terms that the parties agree on.

It takes a crazy long time in NY. All the other states I've been in take less than 30 days. When we bought our LI house - we tried to get them to go as fast as possible and it took over 2 months. We're selling our house now and trying to go fast bc we had to move out yesterday (DH starts a new job in another state) - and it's just over 2 months now.
If issues come up (things that need to be fixed after an inspection, securing the mortgage) it could push the timeline back.

Ours took 10 months.... results not typical. This was thanks to both real estate agents knowing nothing about the issue with the sale. The only way I got info was my RE attorney and my own reserch. Good times

Took me 8 months to close on my co op. I threatened the bank and told them if it drags out any longer, I will just buy the apt with cash. Closed the following week
My ex neighbors bought a house with an fha loan and said it was a nightmare. Took them 4 months
Houses I have been stalking that we liked but weren't perfect for us have closed 30-60 days.

Figure on 12 weeks. We signed contracts on Feb 21, closed June 2, moved June 6. We also had to coordinate the sale of our first house.

Ours was 3.5 months from offer accepted until we moved, but we were waiting for the sellers and we were in a flexible situation.

From fully executed contract to closing was 5 weeks for us. All of our financing ducks were in a row and neither party was selling or buying another property so everything moved quickly.

Ours took five months- my mortgage processor was a mess- she was totally clueless- in the end we closed on the last day of our mortgage commitment at 4 pm.

I don't think it should take more than 2-3 months, in our case it took longer due to issues with the sellers. We ended up closing with money in escrow.
