How long does it take you to run a mile?

I just started back to the gym so i'm a little out of shape after doing nothing for a couple weeks. I got in 2 miles on the treadmill today before DD had a dirty diaper and I had to leave.

I am averaging about a 15 minute mile as of right now. Not running the whole time- I have to work up to that.

Just curious what others can do.

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

Before being pregnant, if I was just running one mile it would take about 7-7:30 minutes. Running more than one mile, prob an average of 9 mins a mile. But I've been running for about 15 years.

Your pace sounds great for starting out - just keep pushing yourself a little bit harder each time!

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

Before my knee injury I could run just one mile in 7-7:30 min. Any longer was 8:20-9:20 depending on the distance.

Now that I'm in the recovery process my mile is more like a 10:30-11 minute mile. It takes alot of time to paitence to build up your speed and endurance. But unfortunatly you can lose it very quickly! I hope to build back over the summer.

I'm not a runner, but I run on the treadmill here and there for cardio.

If I am just running a mile, I can do it in 10.5-11 minutes.

If I am doing more (2-3) miles, I average about 12/12.5 minute/miles

I usually do longer than a mile when I run but I bet I could run a mile (If I knew I wasn't going further) in 8:30 or 8:45?

I run about a 9:30 mile average for a 4 mile run. If I was running only a mile, I could run a sub-9.

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

If I'm only running a mile, I run about an 11 minute mile (don't judge). If I'm doing distance, I'll run between a 12 and a 13. I know I'm slow, and I'm working on getting faster, but I'll take it!

When I started running, I would run between a 14 and a 15 minute mile.

If I were doing 1 mile it takes 10 minutes. Anything more than one mile it takes 11 minutes, anything more than 3 miles it takes 12.45 minutes

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

If I'm running just 1 mile I run it in about 7 minutes. If I'm running distance I average anywhere between an 8 to a 9 minute mile depending on how many miles I'm running. Lately, my 5 mile run is averaging about an 8 minute mile.

I haven't done an all out 1 mile for almost 20 years...so I would have no idea. In HS, I ran a 5:15. Chat Icon I so wish to have that body back!!!

before pregnant, I did ~7:30 pace for a 5K, so I would put me in the 6:30-7:00 minute range?

No judging!!! Those sound like my numbers! I get nasty side stitches and one way to keep them at bay is to go slow.

Running 2 miles, I average 12:45. I have no idea if I were to just run 1 mile, probably a little faster.

If it's just one mile, I can do it in 8 minutes. But the longer the run, the slower my pace.

We always seem to have very similar times!

Over the summer by me, there are weekly track meets and I run a mile in about 6:25-6:45.

My running club does a timed mile on a track every so often...once i'm back into shape (post baby) I should try it.

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

When I run 4-5 miles I average about 11-12 min. miles... On shorter runs I average 10 min. miles. For one mile, I would guess about 9.5...

I am not a runner either and just starting out. I did over 2 miles in 30 minutes the other day. So less than 15 minutes. I also do a run/walk right now.

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

At my best...(military, before kids) I ran a 6 minute mile, now I am averaging a 8 minute mile. I just started running again 2 weeks ago. At my worst it was a 9 minute mile.

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

I am currently training for a 5K. In doing so I run about 3.5 miles outside. It takes me about 36-37 minutes to do that so I am averaging about 1 mile every 10.5 minutes.

Re: How long does it take you to run a mile?

I can do 1 mile in 12:10. that has been my fastest so far.

i can usually do 2 miles in about 25 minutes.

but anymore than that and it goes wayyy down.

I'd like to get to 10 min a mile, 2 miles in 20 minutes but that seems like it will never happen...

Most of the time I can only do 2 miles in 25 minutes, which is my best yet.

Just started running again recently. I've been running with a baby-jogger and avging around 8:30-9 min/mile. Without the baby jogger, closer to 8 m/m.
