how long from "cleared to close" till closing date?

The bank FINALLY officially approved us and told us to contact our attorney to schedule a closing date. That was seven days ago and the date is STILL not set.

The sellers are trying to coordinate a buy AND sell so i understand it takes a little long but how long should i realistically expect to wait?

DH and I are getting really frustrated - our original on-or-about closing date was supposed to be a month ago

It really depends. Once the bank gives the clear to close, it's just up to the parties, as well as their attorneys (and the bank attorney and title closer) to work out a date.

When everyone is ready to go (and there hasn't been an extended negotiated closing date), I'd say we usually schedule closings within 7-10 days of getting the clear to close from the bank. Even if the seller isn't ready to leave, we often will close on the house and then the seller will retain possession for a few days after (which isn't ideal, but common).

I would think that, in your case, things may have been slowed down because of the Labor Day holiday weekend, which could have made it tougher for the attorneys to coordinate with all of the requisite people for the closing.

What does your attorney say? He/she would be the one in the know on why it hasn't been scheduled yet and when you can expect it to be.

I spoke with my attorney earlier and he told me that we're just waiting on the other attorneys (the sellers', i assume) to coordinate the dates.

I guess i'll keep waiting and hoping that we'll hear back soon

For us, we rec'd our clear to close on a Friday and closed on Tuesday.
