How long is an Opened Jar of Tomato Sauce good for???
I know i have read somewhere only a few days. I always open a jar & use half then store it in the refrigerator. The problem is I seem to never use the rest of the jar within a few days, so it gets trashed.
So how long will you use the same jar for and what is safe????

Um - I use it forever.
Seriously - I just used an opened jar that had been in my fridge for about 2 months. DH and I are still alive and well.

I was going to say about a month or two. I don't really pay too much attention as long as I get it right into the fridge.

For a tomato based sauce, as long as I put it directly into the fridge I will use it 1-2 months later. I do smell it before using. For a cream based sauce though I will only let it stay in there a few days.

It gets the sniff and see test.
If it smells ok, then I use it (just heat it thru very well).
If I see mold or it looks funky, then out it goes.

Same here, unless is has mold around the top, we use it.

Probably about a month here too. I think most jarred sauces in general are filled with preservatives so it's okay.

I always freeze whatever is left in another container when I know I won't use it in a week or so. freezes well.
