How long does an open jar of sauce in the frig stay good for?

It just says use by the date on the cap...not a different date for if opened.

a few days. my brother and his friend once got food poisoning from a jar that had been open 4 days.... I never let mine go longer than that. Not worth the risk for me. You can also freeze it.

A few days. Jarred tomatoes can spoil easily. If there are any bubbles or a slight burning taste throw out immediately.

The same is true for ketchup (not the time in fridge, but bubbles on the bottom). Always check it in a restaurant. A lot of times they just keep refilling the same ketchup bottle and bacteria builds up on the bottom. Chat Icon

Check for bubbles in the bottom of the bottle.
