How long to try after D&C?
Hey girls, I am sure this has been asked before but I am curious how long your doctor told you to wait to TTC again after your D&C? Did you get the go ahead after your 1st AF or was it more than that?

my dr told me 1 cycle.
to be honest i was soo dried up that it really hurt the first few cycles.

at first i thought i was ready to try again right away but even if the doc told me 1 cycle i would have waited anyway...mentally and emotionally i was def not ready, i thought i didn't need any time but now i realize that i def needed that time to heal mentally and physically...everyone is different...some are fine to go for it after 1...it took my body a good 2 months to go back to normal...my belly and boobs didn't go down right away, i was losing hair like crazy, my skin was a wreck and emotionally i was a disaster...i'm a few months past that and i feel better all around...

1 cycle and my doctor is an alarmist and very cautious so I trust that this is safe. I wonder why doctors advice differs on this?

my doctor said that the utereus needs time to heal after a d&c because it is scraped down very thin and you want a strong and thick utereus before implantation and i was also told studies have shown that if you get pregnant after a pregnancy (before 3 cycles), whether its a full term delivery or a miscarriage at 8 weeks the risk of preterm labor is higher in caucasians...but i never looked that one up on the internet...my doctor said to wait and give the next pregnancy the best chance and i thought that was good advice....if we lost another one i'd wonder if i it was b/c i didn't wait long enough kwim?

all doctors have different opinions on ... well everything.
so true...i would just follow your doctors orders no matter what, whether its 1 cycle or 3 cycles and of course go with your gut...

I had a D&C in 2007 and was told 3 cycles which took 4 months or so.
In 2010 I had a natural m/c and was told (by same OB) 2 cycles which took 3 months.

I have now seen 2 doctors and asked the same question, how long should I wait after D&C, they both said 1 cycle.
I may wait 2 to be safe - I still need time emotionally. We shall see, I have a few weeks to go and to wait for AF.

My doc told me three months- but I'm not sure I'm going to try again.
