How many BTUs does your AC have in your master bedroom?
DH just bought one for our master - trying to figure if it's the right amt of BTUs.

depends on the size of your bedroom.
take measurements, call PC richard and they'll tell you what you need for the room

I looked at charts online - room is about 270 sq ft and he got 10,000 BTU
(which according to charts is not necessary but he claims charts are not accurate, which is why I was asking what others have)

wow thats big! we have that for our dining room/kitchen/living room combo
our bedroom is about 6000

All the bedrooms have 5,000 BTU acs in them. The downstairs has a 12K BTU and it cools the entire first floor of the house.

Thank you! That's what I said, but he always has to buy bigger!! UGHHH.
I said 6,000-8,000 TOPS. He needed a Friederich and something too big for a bedroom!

you should never get an air conditioner bigger than what is recommended. bigger is NOT better. if i remember correctly, air conditioners also act as a dehumidifier as well as cool off the room. the air doesn't dry properly when you have too many BTUs.
IMO 10,000 is WAY too big for a bedroom!! that's what we have cooling our entire top floor! (kitchen, dining room, living room and hallway!)

Our bedroom AC is a 10k LG. Room is about 20x10 or so with 9 ft ceilings. It does NOT make it too cold and we do not have moisture problems. I believe the prev owner left us a 8k BTU AC and when that one broke on us we stepped it up a bit. DS's bedroom has an 8k BTU AC (Goldstar) and it cools the room just fine. I have never heard that if the BTU's is too high it causes a moisture issue. It may use more energy but I don't think it is worth any hassle of taking it out of the window and returning it to the store...

10k is big and it will cost you more to run.
We have 6k or 6.5k I forget.
It does also depend on how many windows, etc. you have.
We have a 10k in our living room/kitchen/dining room area and it cools off the entire room.
