How many of you have a best friend besides your spouse?
This has been making me very sad lately...I have many friends and acquaintances...but I no longer have a "best friend". I guess a lot of it's due to moving on from college, moving to NJ, etc. I just think it's sad that I am a 28 yr old woman with no one to call my best friend....I see so many girls who have a best friend and I wonder where I went wrong. I feel like I really just drifted apart from many people. I hope someday I am lucky enough to have someone else come into my life. Someone said to me recently something along the lines of "People come in and out of our lives just when we need them.."
Do you have a BFF?

i have a friend since we're 4 - we lose touch and pick it right up again....we won't talk for months, but when we do pick up again, it's like we never skipped a beat.... I'm always there for her, she's there for me, but we don't usually "hang out." does that make sense?
Plus, my sister is always there for me too.

I was just having this conversation with DH last night. I have four very close females, two I consider BEST friends and two who are very close. DH has one best friend and one very close friend.
My best friends were my maid and matron of honor. I have known them since nursery school and kindergarten and we have shared everything, good and bad. Good and bad guys, family illnesses and deaths, weddings, etc.
We may not speak every day, but we consider each other like sisters.
May I ask who your MOH was? Are you still close to this woman? If it was a sister, why not consider her your best friend? Just because she is family doesn't mean she can't be your friend.

I have a best friend that I've had since I was 13. She hasn't lived in New York since she was 14 but time/distance never seems to be a factor or problem. There's just this connection there, like she's my sister or something. Yes, she gets under my skin and she has mental issues that are completely beyond her control (due to her incredibly rough childhood) but I know she'll be there for me forever and visa-versa. She was my Maid of Honor and I love her to pieces. I have another close to best friend that I've had for more than five years that lives nearby that I also feel the same way about. I don't see her all the time or even speak on a regular basis, but she's a "core" friend to me.

Oh Jen...  I'm sorry you feel this way....
I have a few cloes GFs as you know- but the only people I'd consider my best friends are my DH and my Mom....
But I do love my girlfriends too!

I have friends that I consider my best friends but I don't share everything with everyone either ... some friends get pieces of me while other's get other pieces, if that makes sense ... so I wouldn't say I have one "BFF" that I share everything with.

Honestly as the years have gone on, NO I do not really have what you'd call a "BFF" any longer.. and yes it does make me very sad sometimes
I had a serious falling out with the one person in my life that I definitely used to call my "BFF" - we'd been best friends for over 15 years, and she did something unforgiveable to me and that was it -
Since that happened, I do find that I keep a bit of distance between my female friends and myself, just for self-protection.. we are super close BUT I dont reveal my deepest thoughts and feeling to anyone anymore. Though I have 'best friends' now, I must say that I actually consider my husband my best friend , since he is the one person who truly knows EVERYTHING about me

now i maybe have 2-3 people tops that i consider my bets friends
with my family, we are very close

I guess my best friend would be one of my cousins, and then I am very close with several other cousins. As for non-relatives though, no I don't have a female best friend. I have a male friend that I am very close with but I wouldn't consider him my best friend. We talk almost everyday but I rarely see him b/c he lives in Jersey.

I do! My best friend from college. We did everything together--same classes, same sorority, shared apartments...I even went on family vacations with her family and her brother taught me to snowboard! She is definitely still my best friend though she lives outside of Chicago now. We don't talk as much as we used to, but we both know that whenever we need to talk or need someone, we both call each other.
I also consider my mom a best friend. I actually regret not having her be in my bridal party...She has been there 110% the past few years when I needed her the most.

The only other person besides my FH that I would consider a best friend is my sister. I have some really good friends, but I don't really consider any of them my "best" friend.

My MOH was my sister but she is 19, there is an age gap between us. Different generations.
I also have a few friends from childhood that live in my hometown that I see every few months and we pick up where we left off...but I just realized I always used to have GFs that I would speak to every day! And now I don't.
