How Many Partners? on doctor's form!!
So today I had my annual Gyno appointment and they had 4 pages of paperwork for me to complete...the usual stuff until I got to the end of one page and it asked me to declare "how many sexual partners have you had"? I was surprised and drew a line through it as I don't see the relevance.
Has anyone seen this on a doctor's form?

Its actually an important question. It relates to your risk for various STDs. It's not a necessity but it's not an unheard of or outrageous question.

Its actually an important question. It relates to your risk for various STDs. It's not a necessity but it's not an unheard of or outrageous question.
But you can have 1 partner in your whole life and have caught 4 different STD's from him.
So IMO the second you say you are sexually active, you should be tested for STD's - doesn't matter if you've been with one guy or 25 guys

I wouldn't be offended but I don't see the relevance of the question. Like I said, if I had sex with only one partner in my life I could still catch an STD from him.
They would have to ask about every partner you've been with and every partner THEY have been with and so on.

I wouldn't be offended. I just don't think they really need to know HOW sexually active I am. Just that I AM sexually active.
And truthfully, I don't remember how many partners I've had.

I agree. I've had a number of partners over my life (I lost count) but was always was careful and always got myself tested. I would think "Have you ever had an STD?" or "Are you sexually active?" would be better questions but I guess if you never go to the doctor, you'd never know if you had an STD. Everyone that is sexually active should be checked though. I have a good friend that has been with 2 people in her life and has genital herpes. Ugh.

I wonder if the receptionists or assistants make fun of the people after reviewing these forms - not on this particular question but anything thats personal LOL . In my case they'd be like damn girl live a little LOLOOLOL

I've never seen this on any doctor's form and to be honest, if I did, I wouldn't answer it. It's not relevant information that they need to know in order to treat me. Like PP said, all they need to know is that I'm sexually active. They don't need to know how many people I've been with.

I love sex, I make no secret of that, and me likes variety!
Not dozens and dozens but more than two.
If someone thinks two is great, God bless them. Not for me though.

Are you a new patient? I understand why they ask it but I think at this point in my life it's irrelevant. I've been married over 10 years and have been going to the same dr for almost as long. There's no need for them to ask it now.

Yes! My obgyn joined the LIJnorth shore system last year & that question is on their form as well as Do you have sex with ..Men ..Women
They make me fill out the forms every single year.
I leave out the answers to those ridiculous questions because those forms will probably be scanned into my file & easily seen by others.
