We normally have 10 people including us. We host. But this year we are only 9 because my sister has to work.

We are at MIL's and there are nine of us, myself, MIL, her boyfriend, DW, her uncle and his wife, her two brothers, and stepdaughter.

back when we were younger there were times when it was 40+! nowadays as everyones gotten older and has IL's and extended family of their own, its gotten smaller. at my moms tonight we had 17. at IL's earlier in the day it was 5.

15. We planned on 16, but BIL had to work... 
The day before Thanksgiving, we still had workers and painters in the house. Still no carpets, so we ate in what will be the living room, with plywood floor (at least we didn't have to worry about getting the new carpets dirty!  )
It all worked out. Everyone was excited to see the house, even if it was only 95% done.
Plus, we didn't need an excuse as to why the house was in disarray....

I hosted 24 in my apartment!  Thankfully it turned out great and everyone got along, had a good time, etc.
