How many tulip bulbs will/did you plant this year?
And where did you get them from?

I planted 150 tulip bulbs this year. I got them at the Walmart on 110. They were 50 for $10. I had bought a small bag from them last year to see how they would do and they were fantastic.
I also tested daffodil and crocus bulbs from there last year and they all did great. I got more of those this year too, along with some hyacinths.
I'm praying the squirrels don't dig them all up, my daughter keeps asking when spring will be here so she can see the flowers she planted.

I planted 150 bulbs last year - just in my front (.5 acre) there were tulips/hiacynth/crocus/narcissus...I could have done more. I think I will do another 50-100 this year, but only tulip and hiacynth

I planted about 20... and realized why there had been nothing planted there before... it's tough to plant around tree roots lol!! The other place was INFESTED by ants!
No more planting for me

I did almost 300 last year and they came up beautifully. I didn't do any this year, because I'm focusing on other landscape projects before first frost.
Tip - put some dirt on top of the bulbs once planted and lay strips of chicken wire with the ends turned down to thwart the squirrels. You can also cover the top with something they can't dig under for a week or so. Squirrels are drawn to the smell of fresh dirt and will dig simply to find out what's in there.
Also, they don't like the way daffodils taste so if you mix them in among the tulips, you'll have a better chance.

That explains why I found one lone daffodil bulb lying next to a hole yesterday.
