How much $ a year do you and DH make?
Gross yearly income between the 2 of you. Just wondering what's average nowadays. It's hard living in NY even if you make a lot of $ together.

We both work and make a very good salary combined but we have so many expenses. School loans alone kill us. As soon as that's done we'll be rich

Dh brings home the $$ and I'm on/off a SAHM. I'm going back p/t again next month and dh is starting his own business that should be rolling sometime this month! Definately not easy on LI with buying a house and all. I wish we could head down South!

I feel the same way ! We do pretty well and in almost any other part of the country we'd be doing well , would have a home , etc. But by NY standards, we are average at best

I don't know how people who make under $50,000 combined do it.  We make a decent amount combined; both make pretty much the same, but it really doesn't feel like enough. We don't save enough per month for a large savings (after mortgage, school loans, taxes, car insurance, car payments, etc), but we did buy our condo so we do OK.

When my parents bought their house in Smithtown it was like $30,000 in '75...I think the house prices are what kill us now. It's not just inflation--they have gone up so dramatically that a nice, decent house would cost our combined income for like 5 years.

We both make pretty good salaries and luckily are able to bank my entire salary right now and live off of his. It allows us to aggressively save for a house but it still doesn't feel like enough. Mortgage, Car Payments, Retirement Funds, College Funds, Vacations ... I mean there is only so much money to go around to all these things!

We were at the high end when we both worked, but I decided to be a SAHM after I had Andrew, but I am very lucky DH still makes an excellent salary.

We're very fortunate to be slightly toward the higher end of the poll - but I make the larger portion , which concerns me because how will I ever have the opportunity to be a SAHM, like I'd like to be? But he's gaining speed - so I'm hopeful .

thats our situation!!!!! i TOTALLY wish i was the underachiever int he relationship... all hard work got me is more hard work now ill Never get to stay home
