How much and how often do you feed your newborn?

We've been doing formula the last 2 days and she takes about 2 oz every 3 hours but still seems hungry sometimes.

How much do you know how to feed them?

And - if they are sleeping for awhile, do you wake them for a feeding?

Thanks!

Rachel is 4 days old and gets anywhere from 1.5 - 2oz every 3 hours.

When she was home, we were told we had to wake her every 3 hours for feedings, but I am not sure if that normally applies.

every 2-3 hrs is about the average if the baby seam like he/she wants more then give them more ( only give 1/2 z or 1oz in the bottel so you dont waste the rest.. I woke up our son to feed him... if you want to wake them I say wake them !!

I was told about .75 - 1 oz an hour - for newborns

frequencies and amounts will really vary on time of day and temperament

Clover is 18 days old and takes on average between 2-3 oz every 2-3 hours. I never wake her when she is sleeping because when she does sleep it's never more than 3 hours at a time.

I would feed on demand. 2-3 hrs. seems normal. DS was drinking about 3 oz. every 2 1/2 hrs. when we first brought him home.
