How much are your student loan payments?

If any of you have over between $70-100 K in student loans, how much do you pay per month? (even if its yours and dh combined). How long will you paying them off?

No idea how many years on the loans -- 15-20 I think.

We only have my law school loans. Combined, the payments total over $700 per month. We'll pay down the private loan at a higher interest rate a little bit faster, but I'm in no rush to pay down the consolidated federal loans. They are below 4.5% (my money makes more in my savings account right now). I won't rush to pay those off.

I owe $55,000.00 for my law school loans.

I consolidated at an all time low for interest rates, I think at 1.85%

I'll be paying for I think 30 years

My monthly payment is $286.00

We owe $25K for DH's grad school. We pay $290/month - i think that's for 10 years.

Sorry I only pay $100 a month - but if it makes you feel better I am paying on student loans and I dont even have a college degree!!

I stopped for a semester and never went back!

my payments are $228/month and i think they will be paid off in 15 years. it ***** to think about paying them for so long but as another poster mentioned, the interest rate is so low, i won't rush to pay them off.

Between mine and DH we have a TON!
It makes our debt to income ratio suck for mortgage hunting!!!

Mine are about 40 dollars a month. I only have loans from my Masters at a state university. I also consolidated at 2% interest.

DH has about 6k, which we arent paying yet since he is still in grad school.

When I first graduated, I had one loan fo $20K. In the 3 years I've had the loan, I've paid off over 1/2 of it. My monthly amt is $115, but I pay over double that a month to be put towards my principle, so it lowers the total. I hope to have it paid off in the next 3 years.

My monthly payment for law school is $247 and I will be paying that for 30 more years

my loans are all consolidated, to be paid off over 20 years, at 300 a month. it's a lot, i know, but only temporary. and soooo worth it - i loved school!

ETA: my loans are about $60,000.

My husband's loans are about $48,000 between government loans and private loans. We'll pay $300 a month for the next 20 years.

Mine is $150 a month...I only have $4k left, so I will be done paying two years and two months

I owe over $80K in student loans. They are consolidated into a 30 year loan. I pay $509.33 a month.

all totaled, for 4 years of engineering college and a graduate degree, I owed only $25K. I consolidated, and my interested is thankfully low (like 2-4%). I am in year 12 of pay back. I pay app. $230 a month. I have so little to pay back, but with the low interest and my bank account savings earning 6% interest, I am not paying it back early!

Thanks everyone. I really need to consolidate. I havent started paying them off but there about $90,000 and I will have to pay $1500 a month for ten years. The payment could be a lot lower if I increased to twenty years but I just cant see myself paying on a loan (besides mortgage) for that long. I just want this out of the way so that I can live my 30's with little or no debt.

We consolidated....I have about $70K from undergrad and grad, my payments are about $350. DH has about $90K from law school, I'm not sure how much his payments are.

I have 50,000 and pay about 240 a month. I consolidated at the lowest interest possible and I have 5,000 through a private lender. On that loan I pay 50$

I will be old and gray before I am done paying them off.

my undergrad is paid off - i worked full time while going to school full time, so I paid the loans off while I was in school.


DH has undergrad and grad ($40k?) but his interest rate is crazy low (2%?) and about $200 a month (20 year payout).

I am in grad school now after i am done i'll have about $30K, but there interest rates are about 6.5% now, so I plan on paying $1000 a month to pay it off in about 3 years.

I wouldn't be in such a rush to pay off student loans, but we make too much $$ and can't write off the interest anymore
