How much $$ can you justify spending on Halloween costumes?

I am about to buy the monkey & banana from One Step Ahead and have trouble pressing the place order button Chat Icon

I bought his costume last year, after the season, so it wasn't so expensive.

Between the cost and shipping, I'm at $90 for 2 costumes - is this the norm? Am I being cheap or is this what we spend??

With 3 kids, I am budget conscious.
Will probably do a combo of bought items with homemade.

We like to take the opportunity to be creative.

My DS is a Thomas fanatic so we still have his costume from last year that he only wore at pre-k for a couple of hours and t/t afterschool for 1-2 hrs.

Depends. They still wear their Peter Pan and Capt Hook costumes when they play so it was the best 35 bucks I spent each. I do try to wait until there is a sale, but usually we are going to Disney around Halloween and get it before we go since we go to the Halloween party there.

I think I would spend 50 but it would have to be something they absolutly loved.

You don't have a poll for between $25 and $50.

I never go as high as $50.

But I am willing to spend $30.

I feel better now Chat Icon But how do I justify the $30 I spent on a child who may or may not live outside my womb in time for Halloween Chat Icon ?

Oh well - placed the order! Thank you LSP2005 for the codes - I used the 15% off one

It's guilt from Ryan. He was due 3/30 and Easter was 3/23. I didn't think he would come early so I didn't get him ears and he came home from the hospital Easter Sunday - I still feel bad Chat Icon Chat Icon

This is the first year that I will have to buy one. DS had a gift his first Christmas and a hand me down for his second.

I'm kinda hoping my dad volunteers to make one, he made ours growing upChat Icon

the only way i would spend more than $25 would be if it was gender neutral and i could use it for baby#2 in a couple of years.

Re: How much $$ can you justify spending on Halloween costumes?

I never really thought about the $$ I just wanted something that DD was comfortable in. The past two years we have done Disney store costumes (Princess Minnie and Princess Ariel) and between the costume and the shoes they have been about $60+ each.

Around 30-40 bucks, I think. I never really thought about it, the costumes I've liked have just been in this range.

Re: How much $$ can you justify spending on Halloween costumes?

$30 tops....I think that spending $75 or more on a costume for one day is insane, but I know plenty of people do....so I may be in the minority.
