How much do you and/or your spouse spend a week...
on miscellaneous items such as gas, lunch, cigarettes (if you smoke), coffee, etc.?

maybe 50 between gas and snacks, like ice cream trips. Don't smoke or drink coffee.

DH and I have a MAJOR problem controlling spending money. Like MAJOR. Last week we spend between groceries, gas, transportation, miscellaneous trips to Target almost $700
This week I'm taking away the debit cards and starting the envelope system. We get too swipe happy and I'm the only one that checks balances. DH hasn't a clue so he just keeps swiping.
This week I'm alloting $300 a week for groceries, metrocard, lunch out, haircuts, nails, gas, etc.

My husband and I both work in the city. For me, I spend appx. $50 a week and that includes my Metrocard, lunches, occassional frozen yogurt, iced coffee, etc. My husband on the other hand spends appx. $300 That includes his cigarettes, lunches, coffee, gas and Metrocard. I can't believe how much he spends a week! In reality though that is how much things cost down here. We make lunch appx 2-3 times a week but still things add up! It looks outrageous on paper!

Oh and groceries and pharmacy spendings are not even included in that...thats about $150-$200 right there!

I should've read the question better, I thought groceries were included in that. Well under $100. DH and I each allow ourselves to buy lunch out once a week, we don't smoke, and he commutes by train so gas for us doesn't get too bad. We bring coffee from home.

I live and work in the city and yes it's crazy $$. This week I brought my lunch and breakfast to work and saved so much money. I also have to stop those little impromptu trips into CVS, Target, etc. You can really waste money buying things you really don't need.
Between DH and I lunch easily runs between $10-15 each. Breakfast another $2-3 cigs are $12 a pack...it's crazy. Starbucks is like $5 for a tall coffee. If I need a fix I walk to DD now. We are definitely going to cut wayyyyyy back.

I don't know how much DH spends, but I spend almost nothing now that I work from home. Maybe 2 or 3 times per month, I go out for lunch. Since I don't drive to work, I rarely need gas. Neither of us smoke. DH brings lunch most days, eats in the work cafeteria or out two times per week on average. We fill up with gas every week and a half in our minivan ($50-70) and every two weeks in our SVU ($40).

Its INSANE when you write it all down. We get lunches and breakfast served by our company once or twice a week so I don't buy lunch that often but I do meet up with friends or co-workers for lunch and drinks every other week or so and that makes up for all the days that I've saved!

We spend too much. We always say we aren't going to. We are always on the go so between gas, coffee and little trips to the supermarket or target it adds up very very quickly.

My number would be skewed because DH spends around $400-$500 a month in gas- he has a LONG commute.

Thats the thing...when you're on the go you don't have the time to think about how much you're spending...you're thinking about your job, your destination, what you need to accomplish, etc. I guess our compensation makes up for it, but still when I think how much $ is blown it makes me want to budget and plan ahead.

Normally it's less than $100, but I could see it going slightly over if it was a week where we both had to fill up our cars and DH was working off-site (since then he has to buy lunch instead of bring it to work b/c there is no fridge).

For miscellaneous things, less than $100.
He works near home - sometimes from home.
I commute via subway.
We pack lunch almost everyday. He eats breakfast at home; I pack it and bring it to work with me.
I buy an iced coffee every day, and either the Daily News or the Times to read during my commute.

Over $200 but less than $300. We have 3 cars to fuel every week or every week and a half and lunch out a few times a week for the both of us (when Iget lazy and don't make lunch). I need to do better with the lunch out thing.

I bring lunch to work not sure how much DH spends though. I'll probably spend around $15/week on coffee.
It's pretty much gas that gets us. DH has a long commute so for his car alone the cost gets high.

Well when I was working (I'm a teacher) I spend about $150 a week in gas & then DH was filling his tank up once so add another $60-70.
Coffee we got under control once we received our Keurig; but DH picks up snacks at Sevs & I find myself at Target or the Dollar store & always end up spending $50-60 on stuff I really didn't need.

We really only spend money on gas (about $45 per car every 10-14 days, we both have short commutes 8-10 miles).
We rarely buy lunch (maybe 3-4x a year) and we do not smoke, get coffee, etc
