Re: How much do you want to lose ...
It's not so much about losing weight, it's about redistribution for me! but:
to be pleased? 7 to be satisfied? 5 to be thrilled? 10 to be beyond thrilled? 15

Re: How much do you want to lose ...
When does weight loss become an obsession. I try to diet but I feel if its not risking my life why do it.I'm married have a child and who cares if I'm a little rolly. Unless your still looking, if not then I say eat and enjoy.

its not an obsession. we're doing it for health reasons. one person may like being 160 while the next person is more comfortable at 130

It's not about obsession for me at all. I'm not trying to get in shape for anyone but myself. I've been in shape and I love the way I feel - I have so much more energy and I'm generally a happier person. Liking the way I look is definitely a perk!

I did not mean to offend anyone. I just see all these anorexic teens and its so sad they do it just to fit in. Sorry if I offended anyone.

We're all on the diet & fitness board for a reason. Please don't make it seem like any of us are obessing over our weight. We all come here to support each other getting HEALTHY and FIT. If you read any of the threads on this board you would see that we encourage each other to to live healthy lifestyles. Talking about how much you want to lose is not obssessing, it's a reality and if you read through the thread you would see the range is immense from 5 lbs to 120 lbs. I'm not really sure what your point was to even post what you did???

I think that is a horrible mentality to feel like because you are married there is no reason to try to look good anymore. When I look better, I feel better about myself, and my relationship with DH benefits from that. With or without children, married or not married, I think the decision to eat healthfully and stay fit is a decision you should make for yourself, and you sound as though you would only do it for external reasons.

The problem with this mentality is that as one ages, being overweight can risk your life over the long haul. Being overweight increases your chances of developing diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancers.
And as someone else said, when I am thinner, it does wonders for my mental health as well. I feel more attractive and have more energy, which is definitely good for my marriage as well.

First, what an amazing achievement!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!!
I know you did weight watchers, but was that it? Did you exercise too? What I am asking is what changes in your life did you make?
I am not overweight, but I have noticed I am able to gain weight alot easier. I exercise alot and because I exercised I was able to eat what I wanted and not gain.
I am not struggling with exercise, but I am struggling with food. I love food. But I am starting to notice I can't eat what ever I want anymore even with all the exercise.

Re: How much do you want to lose ...
Well there was a lot of change for me. For the first couple of weeks it was just WW. Then I added exercise (I am not a runner)...but I would walk at the track or do WATP tapes. Which I still do, but I do the 3 mile tape with 5 pound weights. I try to mix it up and make it harder.
I had a lot of family issues for the past 5-7 years. I think what really helped me make my changes was letting it go and moving on.
I realized that the portions I would eat, and the food I would eat was not right for me.
My biggest change is portion size, but I am big on organic food now. Trader Joe's is my best friend. I love fruit and veggies so that was always good, but now I am cautious of sodium and preservatives. Overall my health has improved. DH has even lowered cholestrol and weight too by eating what I make. LOL
I do not eat fast food at all, and now I really care about what goes into my body. So I think this in combination with mentally being ready to lose is what did it for me. Thank you for always being so supportive peabody!
