How much does an above the ground pool REALLY cost?
You see the ads, $799, $999, installation included. I can't believe that it could be that cheap (for an medium size pool, not too small).
Can anyone give me an estimate how much it cost them to get a brand new pool and get it started for the season.

We bought a pool from Harrows in April and had it installed late May. The pool was an oval 15x24. It had the resin tops, came with the filter, some chemicals, skimmer and steps. The pool package was about $4800. We had the pool installed (above ground) for an additional $900.

Don't forget to add in the cost of a deck too if you are going that route.
My neighbor says between the deck and AG pool, he could've bought an inground.

We looked into it and those ads are so bogus. To get one you really want - not too small, not bottom on the line that is susceptible to rust and other issues, I agree that $4-5K is more realistic. That's brand new, installed, height of the season. And not from Island Rec, which I only seem to hear bad things about.

My friend just had a semi-inground smallish oval pool installed last week. She used 3 brothers pool and I believe it was around $6000
