How much does it cost to get your small dog groomed?
I have two yorkies...one is 4.5 lbs and the other is around 7 lbs. I have tried 2 different groomers in my area and each time the bill comes to over $100  That means they are charging me at least $45 each. Is that a fair price for such small dogs? And they dont get anything fancy, I keep them short and get puppy cuts so it's not even like they have long hair or required a lot.
I dont know I just feel like it's crazy to pay $50 bucks to groom a 4.5 lb dog. How much do you pay for your small dogs?

I pay about the same for an 8# chihuahua and a 17# schnauzer mix.
I agree...it's expensive. Which is why they only go about once every 6-8 months. I just wash them in between groomings.

Wow that's a great price! I think $35 is a decent price for grooming such small dogs...i just think $50 is expensive. I guess I will have to look around.

Wow that's a great price! I think $35 is a decent price for grooming such small dogs...i just think $50 is expensive. I guess I will have to look around.
I use All Pet Groomery. They're located behind the Miller Place Animal Hospital.

We pay $52 for our Westie. We only groom him every 2 months (we shave him). It's a mobile grooming service so it's super convenient!

The place I use charges $40 but they always mail us $5 coupons so it's usually $35. We have a 17.5 lb havanese.

that's the norm. even though they're small dogs, it takes alot of work to groom them and they're usually harder to groom than the bigger dogs.

I think it depends on frequency. I take my 4 lb pom to get groomed every two weeks and with teeth brushing it comes to $23 each time...I did the math and it worked out better this way than doing it spread out.

$40-50 each for my 2 poms, but we only take them every 2-3 months and wash and brush them in between.

Man, I got robbed they charged me 62 bucks for my yorkie pup. He is like 2 lbs nothing.
I need to find a new place. I never had to groom a dog so I assumed that was fair.

also keep in mind, if your dog is matted, alot of salons charge you extra for that, and if your dog is a PITA, some salons charge extra for that as well.

We pay about $28 before tip. The prices above sound so high but I don't know how much our groomer charges for longer haired breeds. I have a short haired dog. They trim any excess hairs, wash him with a shampoo that helps itchy skin, do his nails, do his anal glands, clean his ears and give him a mouthwash. Our vet charges $25 just for anal glands and last I checked it was $16 for a nail trim, so the groomer is worth it. Our groomer does hand stripping and all kinds of other grooming, too.

Mine is a PITA but our groomers deny that. They tell us he's so sweet and that they love when he comes in. I guess they know how to keep our business. He is always the big mouth in the place and I know it!!!!!!! They must do something right because he is actually eager to walk into that place!
