How much is it to replace an oil heating system?
We are looking at a house whose heating system is probably the original. How long do they usually last? How much do they cost to replace?
How about converting to gas?
Just wanted to get a ballpark figure so we could factor it into our offer.
TIA

we replaced our whole heating system when we first moved: new boiler and tank and it cost us about 7500 for everything.

We have oil heat and our burner is original....23 yrs old. It still works fine, but out of preference we'd liike to get a whole new system, with a new water heater (b/c we have the coils now) We were quoted $5000 for new burner, piping and water heater. We have 2 zones as well.
To convert to gas, you can call National Grid to get detailed info. If there is a gas line within 100 feet of your house (which they will let you know if there is) they will run the line for free. But anything over 100 feet I believe it's $100 per every foot more. They should also be able to give you an appx cost for the whole thing.
