Has anyone been through this process? We've got a service contract, so we'll certainly get a quote from them. Should I be doing comparison shopping? What brands of burners are good? I appreciate any guidance I can get, I know this is going to be expensive!!!

I'm living in Massachusetts now, so I'm curious more about the process and about brands of boilers...

Any chance you could convert to gas? Many of the high efficiency gas boilers and furnaces do not need a chimney anymore, just an exhaust vent out of the side of the house.

No natural gas is offered in our neighborhood.

Just thought I'd give this another chance to see if anyone else has needed to replace their oil burner for heating their house...

I just replaced my Oil burner and oil tank last month. I did get a few quotes. I ended up going with the company I already had a service contract with. They installed a Peerless Cast Iron Burner. I has the Energy star label. I also received a free 1 year contract.
