how much is RE commission? and can i nego?
what is the usually rate? we want to sell our co-op and then buy a house. how much do REA charge these days?
also, i was thinking of negotiating of lower the rate if we use her for buying. anyone had prior experiences with that?

I think 4% is standard now a days. 2% to the sellers agent 2 % to the buyers agent.

You can negotiate a lower rate, but be aware that some REAs will not try as hard to sell your property if they don't feel enough is in it for them. Not all, of course, but that mentality exists.

Where did you find 4? We've been told 5% by all the agents we spoke to, but were able to negotiate some to 4.5.

Re: how much is RE commission? and can i nego?
we were told 4% right off the bat from 3 REA...one told us 4.5-6% depending on what services we wanted (how much we wanted her to do)...we obviously didn't go with her if 3 others would do the same for less.
we didn't negotiate for less, b/c it might stop buyer agents from coming in.
