How much is your 1 year old saying??
DS is 13 months old and only says 3 words, one of them beign Dadda.
HE bables and points to what he wants or tries to communicate in other ways but not as much with words, more with grunts, or whining. Is this normal, should he be saying more??

every baby is different. At 13 months, DD was saying about 10 words (mama, dada, nana, pop pop, down, hi, bye bye, no )

Emma says bye bye, bubbles, mama, papa, brother, meme(milk ). There are things she has said once and never again so I don't count those!

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
Some babies are speaking at 1, some aren't. The pointing and grunting are good signs and normal. My 21 month old is saying about 6 words. I know he's a late talker but kids go at their own pace when they are ready. The signs of communication are all there and that is what counts!

Oh he definitely understands, he is able ot do thinngs that just amaze me, for example, he got a truck for his birthday well he took the box it came in, and placed it near a cabinet he could not reach and use the box as a step stool. It actually scared me cause I realized that I have to keep on top of him.

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
Logan says mama, dada, uh-oh, hi, bye, thank you (sounds like da do, but he says it in the right context).
And daycare says he said buggy and happy, but I haven't heard those.
He "talks" a lot and the intonation is correct, but the words themselves aren't really there.
But boy does he know how to shake his head NO!!

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
DD #2 is 11 months and says mama, dada and book. But that is really about it. And I do not think she understands a lot yet either. If I say where is the ball, she has no clue what Im asking.
I know babies do things when they are ready and they are all different, but DD#1 was talking much more by now, so I am hoping to see some progress soon.....

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
DD only said dada and uh-oh until she was 16 months old. Then she started some other words. She's 19 months now and has a lot of words, but doesn't always use them

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
DS did not have any words till he was 18 months old! Not saying that's normal, he does have a speech delay he's being treated for, but that's what happened.
Strangely though, even though he was super-late on using expressive language, his ability to understand language kicked in on the early side. I remember him being maybe 9 months old, showing him pictures in a book, asking where the moon, the stars, etc are... and he'd put his little thumb on each one.

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
DD had zero words at 1... I wasn't concerned since she was pointing and understood everything... Around 17 or 18 months she started saying things and now she is 2 and does not shut up!!

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
Lucas says dada, mama, nana, and he's constantly pointing and saying 'dat'. He knows who we are and will point at DH if you ask him where's dada or daddy (I am so jealous). If you say 'dat' he will will look right at you to understand what you see or want to show him.
But that's it. He babbles non-stop and laughs at his conversations...we do too.

Gianna-14 months, saysHi, Hello, Mama, dada, Herc, Lady, ELMO, baby, baba, Poppa, Duck, uh OH and points and says UH UH!
ETA: When she points for something, i get it and tell her what it is so if there is a chance she can repeat it back. Sometimes it works.

This is exaclty the way DS is, if you ask him to bring daddy a ball he wil go get a ball and go up to DH open Dh's hand up and put the ball in his hand.
I love seeing him do this..not sur ehwy but I love it.

Re: How much is your 1 year old saying??
dadda, mama (when he is in the mood), hot, car, baba, (meaning bottle), pop pop, bad, and baby.
Those are the words he speaks clearly
Other words are:
deer, dog, juice and bad boy which are not too clear but i can make out what he is saying.
