How much should it cost to install and paint molding?
The man who painted my kitchen said he would charge me $1500 to paint and install crown molding in my LR and DR and paint the existing moldings around the windows. Does that seem high?

Maybe you can paint it yourself to save some money??? I love painting molding, its the easiest home repair we do. If you get it pre primed it every easier, one coat of semi gloss and you are good to go!

Also get the styrene molding instead of wood. It looks exactly the same, and is much cheaper!

It sounds high but you also have to account for the linear feet of moulding and size/style. The largest investment I made in our house so far was moulding. For example the Base, Shoe, Window, Casing and Crown for our L/R and D/R cost me apporx. 800.00 in material w/o paint.

My DH is a carpenter and did a phenomenal job in our house installing crown and base moulding and chair rails. FM me if you want more info.

We're looking for someone to install base and some crown moulding in our home. Does your DH work for himself? Please FM me with more info if possible. We're south shore nassau.

Sounds like he may also have a bridge to sell you. But I will admit it takes time to cut, miter, nail, caulk and paint moulding....
