Re: How much time is your DH taking off??

DH only has 10 days of vacation - he will take at least a week when the baby is born then we will see how much I need from there. My mom will also take some time off when he goes back as she gets a lot more time off.

Thanks everyone.

DH was planning on taking 2 weeks too, I felt that 2 weeks was a little short, but it seems like that's the norm.

Lisa, 8 weeks PAID paternity!! Nice!! Chat Icon

at least a month paid...we are both police officers in the city and our benefits are really good...he would take more time off but i said to save the other days just in case...it still leaves hime with over 30 more days on top of the month he's taking off

No time at all Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My DH and I are both teachers (college) and we're due Sept 17th -- great planning right?

So neither of us can take off technically.

I only teach a couple of hours a week and someone is covering for me until I can get on my feet. DH's schedule is also very good and he works less than a mile away, so he'll be home as much as possible!

You ladies are so lucky---my DH is lucky if he will be with me one day

Don't feel so bad--when my DD was born, DH came to the hospital each day for most of the day, but went back to work the day after I came home. A full day at that--like 9-7pm. Chat Icon He is an atty. in private practice and a college professor and the semester was just starting so it had to be like that.

This time, DH probably won't take any *entire* days off, but will go in to the office for a few hours each day, when I'm in the hospital and when I get home; luckily the semester is just ending this time!

DH owns a landscaping business, so he is very busy in the summer. Im hoping he will be stopping in throughout the day, and coming home at a resonable hour...ill be happy with that.
He probably will only take off the day we come home uless i need him to watch our daughter.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off??

DH is a teacher, and as long as baby doesn't come early, he should be done with Regents and everything, thankfully. So he would technically have the whole summer off, but he's most likely going to be working some type of job over the summer, hopefully just part-time. It will be nice having him around more, especially in the nice weather with the baby.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off??

My Dh will be off for almost 2 weeks. even though he has 80 days of leave his command is kinda crappy so that's all he can take, albeit I am thankful he is home and can even be with me!

DH will take a week off and then work from home 5 days a week (or at least 4 - if he has to go in every so often) for awhile.

DH is taking 1 - 2 weeks off at the beginning and then 5 weeks off after I go back to work to stay with the baby.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off??

DH will probably only take off that day and the next since he is a teacher and I am due 6/16, though depending on the test schedule it could be more than that, then he will go back to finish the year and then be home with me all summer

Two weeks- But after I come home from the hospital. Dont need his help there and felt it would have been a waste. Then another week for Xmas into the new year.
Ohh I almost forgot-he has a week home in July so we can get some work done to the baby''s room.
