how much to offer from the listing price?

what is usually the % you would offer from the listing price of the house? i read on yahoo the other day to offering 10% less from the listing price...is that correct?

ie: if the house is 750k and it's bascially move-in condition..should i offer 10% less?

TIA

Re: how much to offer from the listing price?

I would check the comps in the area. While some houses are somewhat overpriced, there are some that are priced fairly. I wouldn't necessarily go by %s IMO. So my advice to you is to check the comps in the area. if you feel that it's still somewhat more than it should be, then offer what you feel it's worth and remember that they can always say no or come back with a counter.

If the house is in Nassau, I suggest you check the assessors website.

Check the assessed value and the value of similar homes in the neighborhood.

http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/mynassauproperty/main.jsp

Click
Property Search

I accept the conditions and wish to continue

only enter house number and street name.

Find address

Good Luck

I agree. It depends on a bunch of factors--time on the market, condition of the home, fariness of the asking price, comps...
