Depends on your gas tank and how many miles you're driving, and the speed you drive as well.

It really depends on what kind of car you're driving.
If you're in a hybrd - much less than an 8 cylinder full sized suv. KWIM?
Also, would this be 5 days a week?
Guesstimating - I would say about $60-$80/week.

Suffolk to Queens?
when i travel from queens to suffolk 3 days it takes me a lil more than 1/4 tank of gas. i also have a truck.

then mulitple that by 5

A lot. I drove from Huntington to Whitestone. 32 miles-ish. Each way. Therefore 64 miles. Had a Honda Civic 5 speed. I used roughly 2 and a half gallons a day so I filled up my 10 gallon tank every 4 days. That was when gas was about $1.99/gallon.

DH commutes from Holbrook to Garden City everyday. he goes through a tank and a 1/2 a week. he has a 4 cyl turbo and gets about 30-32 MPG on the hwy.
so to Queens I would guess probably 2 tanks per week.

it also depends on the time of day he is driving and how he would be driving, ie: weaving in and out of traffic, speeding up slowing down speeding up again etc.
times when there is alot of traffic could add alot.
I used to drive from northport to port washington everyday. it took no less then 1.5 hours since I drove when everyone else was driving. It took about 1.5 tanks a gas a week (5 days). And i had a 4cylinder car, that was new. I didn't drive aggressive either. but I was in traffic the ENTIRE way

Well I work in Queens (Northern most tip) and live in Nassau but am almost into Suffolk. I fill up my Nissan Altima which holds about 17 gallons about once a week.

depends on where in suffolk
i used to commute from dix hills to jamaica but if you are in shirley, it would be a different story

OK , so on average the V6 gets 17 MPG city and 26 MPG highway. If you are in traffic I think aconservative guesstimate would put you at 21 MPG average.
What is the distance (ie where in Queens to where in Suffolk?) Suffolk is huge and the distance from let's say Bayside to Babylon, then Glendale to Stonybrook, KWIM?

To add, when I lived in Babylon, and attended St. John's 5 days a week, I had to fill my tank every 4 days (I also worked in Bayside on the weekends at the time). With the current cost of gas, it would cost me $110 a week. I drove a truck that got 12 MPG.
