How often do you have to turn in plans?

As a non-tenured teacher (upstate ny) we were asked to turn in our lesson plan books for review and comment every 2 weeks.

Yesterday a memo went out that we need to turn them in every week on a rotating schedule (by grade levels)


How often (if at all!) do you need to show your administrator your plan books?

as an untenured teacher we are supposed to hand them in every week, but to be honest I haven't handed them in all year and my prinicipal hasn't even mentioned it to any of us (the other 2 untenured teachers in my bldg haven't either). The tenured teachers don't have to hand them in. We actually just got a new principal so I wonder what she is going to want us to do.

We use to be every 2 weeks. As an untenurd teacher we were also required to kist all of the NYS Standards. I think it became to overwhelming for my principal so now we hand them in once a month on a rotating schedule.

Never! (However, before I got tenure, I had to bring my planbook with me to my mid-year and year-end evaluation meetings. The principal NEVER looked at them.)

Once a week, but nobody actually looks at them.

I never have to turn plans in, but I still do them anyway for myself. I'm a non-tenured, Special Ed. Teacher.

Never! No one has even looked at my plan book since my tenure year (4 years ago).
Although I wouldn't mind every now and then.

Never. However, we do keep portfolios that are pretty comprehensive on each. They are collected 3 times a year.

Before tenure, we had to do it one per week.

After tenure, once per quarter

Tenured and non-tenured, plans are due Monday morning for that week, before classes start.

Non-tenured plans have to be very detailed, tenured plans can just be a copy of your plan book.

I teach in a Catholic school. We have to hand them in every monday.

WOW...quite a range across the board.

I'm upset because I start 2 grad school classes next week and now with the new lesson plan schedule...some days I only have 5 days to write all my plans for the next turn in.

In NYC I believe that collecting plan books/plans is not permitted by our contract. But admins can walk in and ask for a plan, and take disciplinary action when a teacher does not have a plan. And I think they can ask to see our plan books too- they're just not allowed to do a "mass collection."

Either way, I've only had my plans checked a handful of times, and had my plan book looked at once. In my school, if an admin comes in and sees a clear lesson going on, he/she figures that the teacher has a plan (and in my case, I always do.)
