How often/long does/did your 11 week old nap?

DS has been sleeping a lot more than he did before, and I wonder if I should be concerned?

He has a cold, plus we've been having the issues with mucus in his stool, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Today, he woke up @ 7am, fed, and was asleep by 830. Woke up @ 10 to eat, stayed up a bit and fell asleep again @ 11.

Woke up @ 130 to eat, went right back to sleep, ate again @ 330 and is sleeping now.

Is it normal to sleep so much? What did your NB's sleep schedule look like around 11 wks??

TIA

I think that seems totally normal. My boys slept like that until 13-14 weeks or so. Now they stay awake for about 1.5-2 hrs between naps. In Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child he says infants should have about 1-2 hours of wakefulness and then nap

It sounds normal, and if he has a cold, or is going through a growth spurt, it makes sense.

My DD is 10 weeks old and her sleep goes something like this:

Wakes up anywhere between 5am-7am, has a bottle, goes back to sleep usually until 10-11am.

bottle
get dressed
play/cuddle/tummy time
she then gets tired/cranky and goes in the swing and sleeps there for about an hour, give or take 15 minutes.

between 1:30-2:30 =

bottle
nap (this is her long nap) she will sleep from 3ish until 5 or 6pm

bottle
cuddle time/play and I'll read a book to her.

she then goes in the swing (sometimes, or her bouncy seat) and she'll nap for about a half hour

8:30 - bath/bottle/bed.

Re: How often/long does/did your 11 week old nap?

honestly with Sasha is depends on the day. I am trying to note when she sleeps to see if she is making her own schedule-- but it really depends on our activity for the day-- if we are home, or out.

Yesterday she slept for only 20 to 30 mins at a time-- I could not get her to take a real nap all day...

Today she has had a couple of naps.

Regardless, she still tends to sleep the same at night.

The amount of time your DS sleeps seems normal. My 11 week old DD seems to be developing a schedule this week. I am noticing that she has been taking 2 naps one in the am and one in the pm and each last at least 2 hours sometimes 3. If she naps any more than that then she is very bright eyed if she wakes for a feeding in the middle of the night. How does you DS sleep at night?

He used to wake up every 2 hours, but this week he started sleeping longer. He sleeps from 10-1030 til about 3, then til about 6 or 7. He'll stay up for a bit and then back for a nap from like 8-11. It's still alot of waking up, but it's better than every 2 hours. Chat Icon
