How old was your child when you turned their carseat?
Does anyone have their 16 month old still rear facing in the car?
Megans feet only now just started touching the seat, so I am turning it around today. But I was wondering if anyone had their child rear facing for so long?

DD was about 15 months, but she was getting really squashed in the seat. It was getting difficult to put her in the seat anymore. As long as they can fit rear-facing, it's a good idea to keep them that way.

I turned my boys around just a week shy of their first birthday...they alreday fit the weight requirements

Maddie is still facing the rear but only because of pure and utter laziness on my behalf!   She still fits comfortably though that's why it hasn't been a priority.

Sarah was around 15 months I think. I would have kept her backwards longer but we were moving her seat to put in the infant base for Andy and I wanted to be able to see if she was poking at him.
Andy was right after his 1st birthday. He had suck/swallow issues back then and would frequently gag on his saliva, so his ped suggested it so I could keep an eye on him.

I waited to turn them around. They were both about 14-15 months old. The longer they face rear, the better. It was also a pain to turn the latch clips around to so that I could use them forward facing.

It's safest to keep them rear-facing as long as possible. DS will be rear-facing unti he out-grows the rear-facing limits on his carseat.

days after his first b-day. normally I am queen bee safety patrol, but this, I needed the year of car hell to end.
he is so much happier turned around.

DD didn't make the weight requirement until 13 months. That's when we turned her.

We turned Jeremy at 14 1/2 months. I went to an inspection place to have it done. The cop let me know that in the next few years, NJ is possibly going to change the law to a minimum of 15 months. Rear facing is safest

The reason the guidelines state 1 year is not because of size entirely, but because of neck control, etc. If god forbid, you were to get into an accident, her little neck would not be strong enough not to snap back upon impact. IMO, I would switch this back immediately. This is why we are told 1 year old is the MINIMUM age at which to make the switch!
To answer the question, I turned Kate around at 1 year in DH's car and around 14 months in mine.
