Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
Strangely, since my wedding I'm not that sentimental about my e-ring and matching wedding band, so it wouldn't bother me. I've been debating for the past 2 years to sell mine and get something totally different. I feel like it doesn't fit who I am now.
On the other hand, if DH tried to replace my plain band that matches his I'd be very upset, I have a strong attachment to that ring.

Oh just tell him you don't want a new stone. Trust me... beating around the bush doesn't always get through to men!
Just come on out and tell him.
LOL - so true!
I'm very sentimental about my rings, too. I wouldn't change them unless I absolutely had to - I'm already worried about what might happen if they didn't fit anymore!

Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
DH already told me that sometime this year he will be upgrading my princess cut e-ring to the Asscher. This is something that he wanted to do. I love the e-ring that I have now but it is his choice so I told him that it is okay with me.
If you are not comfortable with your FH changing your stone I would suggest be outright with him about how you feel about it.

Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
Didn't you just get engaged and he wants to upgarde it already? Maybe he wanted to get you something better and now he can afford it. As long as he wasn't atking away you first e-ring I wouldn't care.
My DH upgraded my wedding band after I had my son as a present, so now I have 2. My original is more antique looking and the new one is more bling!

Tell him that a girl you know at work just showed you her new e-ring, and that her DH changed the center stone, and while you're telling the story, add that you would feel awful if the stone that your DH proposed to you with was ever altered
Yes. use this!!!!

Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
I personally would want to keep it the same. Now that I'm married (and maybe I'm in the minority) the e-ring has served it's purpose.
I've been thinking of even getting rid of the insurance on it because if I was to lose it I don't think I'd even bother replacing it.

I'm attached to my setting, but not the stone.
DH had my setting hand made out of an idea in his head. To me, that's sentimental.
The stone is a stone- IMO, there's nothing sentimental about the stone itself.

tell him exactly how you feel.
Instead of a new engagement ring, this year I got a ring for my right hand. A beautiful diamond and aquamarine ring. It's stunning.

Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
A few months before our wedding I was scared into thinking I needed a new setting (no new stones) and I was a mess thinking about it.
But now, after being married, I would definitely love it if he reset my original stones into an even more blingy setting... in fact, I hope that for 5 years that will be done.
If you don't want it, you have to find a way to let him know.

I would be absolutely bloody thrilled! I am going to suggest it to him tonight. Its just a piece of rock (albeit fabulous rock) to me and I would be happy for an upgrade at any point in time.

I would love if he were to upgrade my rock without my knowledge.
But then again, I am a materialistic b-otch and DH would be the first to say that.

I'm so sentimental.......I love how much thought and effort DH put into choosing my e-ring.....I wouldn't want to change it either.....just be honest and tell him you thought he might be up thinking of upgrading as a surprise, but you really want to keep what you have........I'm sure he would understand

Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
For my middle stone to be upgraded, you'd have to change the setting (it's a RB in a square setting). I love my setting and am way to sentimental to have it changed. I do, however, want another wedding band (in addition to the one I have) to flank my e-ring I've put in the suggestion already
If you know for sure that this is something that he's doing and it's not something you're interested in, I would just tell him flat out.

I'd feel
Don't get me wrong, I love my e-ring, but I sure wouldn't be opposed to an upgrade!

really, why do you say that? Just curiuos as to why you would not "bother" replacing it, that seems harsh
I guess I am more sentimental than some though

Re: How ould you feel if you found out your husband was going to upgrade the center stone of your ering...
I would be fine with an upgrade. Do I need one or think I will ever get one? No, I doubt it.
But the stone is just a stone, it doesn't change the love and thought that went into him giving me the ring, nor the words or intent behind it.
I am a very sentimental person, and if DH wanted to surprise me with an upgrade, it would be just as sweet a sentiment as the day he proposed.

I would feel the same way you do Jess and I suggest you just straight out tell him that you would never want to change the stone. Good luck!
